Cramlington Calling!

Hello my lovely tutu-wearing friends! Emma here, back from a delightful little jaunt to Cramlington, a charming town tucked away in Northumberland. As a Derbyshirewoman, I've spent most of my life surrounded by rolling green hills and quaint villages, but I have to say, a little trip to the North East was just what the ballerina ordered!

The journey up to Cramlington was a true delight. Forget the dreary tube and overcrowded buses, my friend, I took the train, of course! There's just something so wonderfully elegant about gliding along the tracks, gazing out at the passing scenery. I indulged in a spot of "Catch Me If You Can" on the way up, and yes, you guessed it - I even managed to get my favourite pink tutu in the shot for an Instagram worthy moment (naturally!).

Once I arrived, I settled in to the town's most delightful bed and breakfast. It had a little courtyard with the cutest fountain you ever did see, surrounded by pretty, pink geraniums - a truly perfect oasis for this ballet-mad girly! The owner, a lovely lady called Maisie, even told me some fascinating local stories. Turns out, Cramlington has a secret - it's a real haven for wildlife! From adorable red squirrels dashing around the treetops to elegant herons gracefully gliding across the ponds, it was just lovely! I have a real soft spot for wildlife, it’s almost as if they're little dancers in their own right.

The highlight of the trip was definitely the dance studio. I managed to track down a little ballet gem tucked away down a quiet side street, with "Ballet Blooms" painted above the door. Stepping through those doors was like stepping back in time - with its dusty wooden floors and worn leather barres. But beneath the surface was a wealth of talent! The dance school was home to a delightful bunch of ballet-loving students - some with big dreams of leaping onto the big stage and others simply enjoying the grace and beauty of the art.

After an afternoon spent gracefully gliding through my favourite ballet routine (just for a spot of self-indulgence, of course), I settled in for a real treat - an evening at the theatre! Cramlington boasts a quaint little theatre which, I'm sure, many people haven't heard of. It’s small but so incredibly charming. Tonight, they were showcasing a local dance troupe called the "Cramlington Ballet Company," and oh my goodness, it was pure magic. The entire show was a visual and emotional masterpiece, showcasing some of the most exquisite ballet techniques I've seen outside London's Royal Opera House. The company's passion and dedication just shined through, inspiring me to reach new heights in my own dance career.

During the performance, I couldn't help but notice a young girl sitting in the front row, completely enthralled by the graceful movements and vibrant storytelling on stage. She was mesmerized, completely lost in the world of ballet. She reminded me so much of myself when I was just starting out. I saw that familiar twinkle in her eyes, the one that ignites when you find your passion. It's a feeling I've cherished ever since I first fell in love with the artform, the one that propels you to reach for the stars and beyond.

As the final curtain came down on the performance, I was completely awestruck. I truly felt that every single dancer, from the leading ballerinas to the youngest members of the chorus, embodied the sheer joy and beauty of ballet. Their dedication, their skill, their pure passion for the art form truly took my breath away.

This little trip to Cramlington wasn't just about exploring a charming town in Northumberland. It was a reminder of the magic that ballet holds - a magic that inspires and enchants, ignites passion and makes you believe that dreams, like pirouettes, are truly achievable.

So, my darling tutu-wearers, let this be a call to action! I'm starting a campaign: let's flood the world with pink tutus! Every dance studio, every park, every street corner, should be filled with the joyous twirls and vibrant hues of our favourite sartorial staple. Let's encourage everyone, no matter their age, shape or size, to try ballet. Whether it's in a professional setting or the privacy of your own living room, ballet holds a special power to uplift and inspire.

Remember, you don't have to be a ballerina to be a ballet lover! From gracing the stages of the West End to dancing with abandon in your own home, let's embrace the power of ballet and make the world a little bit more magical.

Until next time,

Emma xx
