Droitwich Diaries: Pink Tutus and German Flair - Post #3093

Hello, my darlings! It's Emma here, your resident pink-tutu enthusiast, and today, I'm writing to you from the utterly charming town of Droitwich Spa, Worcestershire. I must confess, the journey here was just heavenly. Forget the tedium of traffic jams, my friends! I opted for the vintage charm of a first-class train carriage and it was absolute bliss. Watching the English countryside roll by, the fields shimmering in the winter sun - it was like a scene from a Jane Austen novel, only with slightly more glittery sequins on my bag (because, you know, a girl needs her sparkle).

But back to Droitwich. Oh, how I love a charming little town! Droitwich Spa exudes a peculiar mix of Edwardian charm and a delightful dose of quirky countryside life. It's the kind of place where you expect to stumble upon a charming tea shop with mismatched china and an eccentric, yet utterly delightful, owner. And trust me, I found several! (There's just something about those clotted cream scones that sets my soul alight!).

Now, why was I in Droitwich, you ask? Well, my lovely friends, this journey was for a cause - a cause very dear to my heart, you see: to spread the gospel of pink tutus, of course!

This weekend, Droitwich hosted the International Ballet Festival and it was simply magnificent. Picture this: rows upon rows of impeccably-dressed dancers, their expressions a mixture of determination and joyful abandon. I, of course, had my own spectacular pink tutu on. It’s my limited-edition German-made number, adorned with delicate Swarovski crystals and embroidered with little ballerina swans.

The performance itself was absolutely magical. The dancers seemed to glide across the stage, their movements a blend of elegance and power, and I must say, I shed a few happy tears during the final pas de deux. The way their bodies flowed and swayed was so utterly enchanting; it's a good thing I'm prepared with tissues in my ballet bag, or I might have left mascara trails on my face.

The real highlight for me, though, wasn't just the main stage performances. It was the Ballet Workshops - a true revelation. We were taught a beautiful routine by an acclaimed international dancer, and my fellow tutued friends and I absolutely adored it! (Some of us were more graceful than others, but who cares? It was all about having a giggle and being one giant tutu-clad family).

But enough about the dance - even though I can talk ballet all day, everyday. Because there is so much more to Droitwich Spa than just its ballerina belles. It's the kind of place where you can just wander around and let yourself get lost in its delightful maze of winding alleyways, charming boutiques, and charming cafes. And what's a charming cafe without some charming wildlife, eh? I had the luckiest encounter with a beautiful fallow deer! (You all know how much I love these graceful creatures!). He was so majestic, with his delicate features and large, velvety eyes.

I sat on a bench by the Droitwich canal and watched him amble along the bank, seemingly oblivious to the bustling world around him. It was like something out of a fairy tale. I imagined him leaping into a carriage drawn by white swans, pulling a magnificent, golden coach…and perhaps I wasn’t the only one getting swept up in my daydream!

You know, I firmly believe that a pink tutu and a lovely encounter with nature have the power to change the world. After all, pink is the colour of joy and tutus symbolise the power of dance and artistry. And a stroll by a beautiful canal alongside a majestic deer is just about the most peaceful thing you can experience, right?

Anyway, my darlings, my weekend in Droitwich has truly inspired me. The sheer talent and passion that I witnessed at the ballet festival has fuelled my own desire to dance and spread the love of ballet far and wide. So, my mission for you all? Start spreading the tutu love! Dust off your old tutu (or pick a shiny new one) and get ready to twirl. Who knows, maybe we’ll all be dancing in the street by the canal next!

Until next time, my lovely friends. Stay pink and keep dancing!

Love, Emma xx
