Broadstairs, Darling! Post #3096

Oh, hello lovelies! It's Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger, coming to you live from the beautiful seaside town of Broadstairs. This little corner of Kent is practically made for twirling - think quaint streets, pebble beaches and an air that’s just positively buzzing with holiday cheer. I’m sure you can tell I’m already in love.

Travel in Style

This time I went all out for the journey and arrived in true fairytale fashion - by train. I practically swept through the carriage, you know, in my flowing pink tulle skirt (of course!) and a little ballet cardigan to ward off the sea breeze. My trusty vintage suitcase filled with all my dancing essentials and an oversized pink straw hat perched perfectly on my head finished the look.

You can’t go wrong with a train journey, especially when it winds its way through such scenic landscapes. As the train rattled along, I gazed at the rolling countryside and spotted a family of deer frolicking by a wooded glen. It reminded me just how much beauty nature holds, a bit like how ballet can sometimes bring such pure joy and grace to the world.

The Charming Little Town

Broadstairs has definitely captured my heart already! It feels like stepping into a bygone era, with charming cobbled streets, quaint tea rooms, and the iconic harbour bursting with colourful boats. The Victorian architecture, especially the imposing Grade I-listed, chalk cliff-top landmark called Fort, makes you feel as if you’ve stepped onto the set of a period film. It’s a little slice of history tucked away right on the coast.

Speaking of the coastline, it’s positively breathtaking! Golden sand beaches with shimmering waves, towering chalk cliffs that pierce the sky, and the most charming seafront promenade you’ll ever find. It’s enough to inspire any ballet dancer with its elegance and beauty. Just imagine the breathtaking dance routines I can already picture in my mind!

Finding the Ballet Inspiration

No seaside trip is complete without a ballet class, don’t you agree? Luckily, Broadstairs has a delightful little dance studio, nestled amidst the seaside charm. I couldn't resist a class in my favourite, full-skirted pink tutu - just for the joy of twirling! The instructor was delightful, with an infectious enthusiasm for the art form. You know I always get extra-motivated with a new teacher and I feel like I am learning some beautiful new moves, I'm really starting to improve!

Tonight, the highlight of my Broadstairs escapade: the local amateur ballet performance! The show features the “Nutcracker Suite” and I’m absolutely bursting with excitement! My dear friend Emily, a fellow dancer from Derby, even promised to come along to watch, It's always wonderful to catch up with other ballet lovers. We are meeting in the quaint old tearoom nearby, called the "Beach Hut" – just for the fun of it, we are planning to wear our tutu skirts. How about that for embracing our love for ballet!

The Big Question

My fellow dancers and tutu enthusiasts, is Broadstairs on your travel list yet? It's perfect for a weekend getaway and with so much natural beauty to inspire you, you'll be pirouette-ing with joy in no time.
