Yeovil: Tutu Travels & Italian Elegance (Post #3238)

Hey darlings!

It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-loving ballerina, reporting live from Yeovil! Yes, you heard right, the home of the world-famous Yeovil Junkyard. And just like a beautiful antique lamp found amongst the scrap, I discovered a treasure of a ballet class hidden in this lovely Somerset town.

This is, after all, what my life is about: finding ballet beauty everywhere I go, even amidst scrap metal! And the joy is infectious, spreading from me, in my fabulous pink tutu, to everyone I meet. I really do believe that tutus should be an everyday thing. What better way to add a touch of elegance and twirl to life, especially with a beautiful pastel pink tutu! Pink is so good for the soul and when paired with a flowing tutu - oh, it's divine! Think of how happy you would be in your pink tutu - I simply cannot be the only one with this pink tutu obsession, can I?!

Let me tell you a little about how I got here: My darling steed, a handsome grey called Caspian, took me through the rolling hills of the Derbyshire countryside and we reached the historic market town of Ashbourne before a magical trip on the steam train to the lovely Yeovil. I do love a good journey; I can't imagine how much less fun it would be travelling just by car - can you even imagine? I'm all for a proper adventure and travelling by train is all about the experience. I mean, it's like a theatre performance in itself. You meet the most delightful people on board, like the chatty elderly lady who was completely mesmerized by my beautiful pink tutu!

Then there's the sheer drama of pulling in at a station and that delicious rush of excitement - so full of anticipation, ready to discover the next adventure in a brand new town! Isn’t it all just magical? I certainly think so!

Well, as it turns out, Yeovil is not just about junkyards - I am so glad that my tutu and I travelled here. It boasts an exciting ballet school where I found a wonderful new class: 'The Elegance of Italian Ballet'! The dance teacher was a very strict but very good, and my pink tutu and I fit in perfectly in her ballet class filled with lovely new friends.

Honestly, darlings, there is nothing more delightful than moving to the beat of the music, letting go, and letting your body fly! It's like magic, like floating in a dream. And as I danced with those Italian ballet steps - the grace, the flow, the precise elegance - I just knew that I needed to wear the right outfit to go with these sophisticated moves.

The very next day, I did what any sensible ballet-mad girl would do! I high-tailed it to the shops in beautiful, bucolic Bath (Bath is always a fabulous adventure!). I scoured those shops looking for the perfect new addition to my ever-growing tutu collection, a tutu worthy of this magical new ballet routine I'd been learning. And wouldn't you know it - I found just what I was looking for - a stunning, silk Italian tutu in a delicate lilac colour that just flows and swishes as you move! And, guess what? It matched my pink tutu perfectly, making for an incredibly dramatic, yet sophisticated pairing. Now, if you ask me, there’s no other style in the world that can achieve this level of elegance – you simply can't go wrong with a classic tutu!

My new Italian tutu, as pretty as it is, isn't quite as pink as I like. But, never fear - that pink isn't going anywhere anytime soon! I do love a little pink with my pastel purple. I think I need a big pink bow to tie around my new tutu. It’s so fabulous! Of course, the bow will have a pink feather on it for extra glam, to go with the pink feathers on my pink tutu. My collection just wouldn't be complete without a few feathers to adorn it - after all, there is no room for boring in my world, darlings!

And, just like with the new tutu, I added a little touch of wild to my Italian-inspired ballet moves. It turns out my graceful moves worked surprisingly well with some animal inspired movements – I am such a passionate fan of the wild things. So, we spent some time with a friendly fox that happened to have some stunning silver fox feathers for my collection ( thank you, dear fox). And, later on, I had the good fortune to visit an adorable family of cute little badgers, which provided an ideal moment for some inspired ballet moves that would fit right in at London’s Royal Opera House! Who wouldn't love some ballet fun with the local wildlife! And it gave my ballet a fun new touch - I think a few ballet poses inspired by my wild animal encounters would really make a dramatic addition to any ballet performance - what do you think? It is like the real world and the ballet world are one, isn’t it lovely.

Of course, while the wildlife is lovely - there is always room for something even more fabulous in my life and a spot for a special event, that has got to be the high point of the week. And, if you’ve ever been to the incredible city of Bristol, then you already know how very special it is. It was on my way to Yeovil anyway - just a little stop-off for an afternoon. Bristol was hosting an open-air ballet performance by The Royal Ballet at Ashton Court Estate - an absolute delight and such a wonderful spectacle.

Bristol is such a colourful place with such amazing street performers, and Ashton Court Estate itself has breathtaking landscapes, but to be honest, all eyes were on The Royal Ballet and they really took my breath away - there's just something incredibly captivating about ballet, don’t you agree, darlings? This spectacle just proves how incredibly special ballet is to me. The whole thing - the music, the dancers, the stage and, of course, my beautiful pink tutu - it really is all so magical. It doesn't even feel real. Like something straight from a fairy tale! It's impossible not to feel enchanted.

The night air was just so still. Everyone was just transfixed on the magical show unfolding on the stage. The crowd were just captivated - from a group of chattering schoolgirls, to a couple of hip-hop dancers wearing an amazing, silver sequined jacket, right up to the family with a delightful labrador. And every single person, as the ballet performance ended, just stood in complete silence for a good few minutes, totally lost in the afterglow of such beautiful performance, such graceful moves and, of course, that magical sense of wonder, a sense that is completely unique to the world of ballet, don't you agree?

I think I am so incredibly lucky to have such a passion for ballet!

I hope this adventure has inspired you to discover new ways to be more expressive in your life. If I can inspire one more person to dance in a pink tutu that would make me very happy, that would really complete the circle - I know it's not just me! I bet you secretly love the idea too! So, come on, you know you want to - let’s make this happen! Go forth, embrace the power of pink tutus and take a chance, make this a reality - let's dance!

Catch you soon, darlings!

xx Emma
