Leith, Oh Leith! A German Tutu and the Wildest Dreams (Post #3237)

Hello my lovely lot,

It’s your favourite pink tutu-clad traveller Emma, signing in from the bustling streets of Leith, Edinburgh! You wouldn’t believe the adventures I’ve been having – and trust me, there's been more than a touch of pink in every one!

Today was an absolute whirlwind, but let me tell you, it's the kind of day you live for as a tutu-loving ballerina. I woke up in a gorgeous bed and breakfast with floral wallpaper and, wait for it, pink curtains! It was the perfect setting to get dressed for my grand adventure: a trip to the National Museum of Scotland. I decided on a little playful outfit: my signature pink tutu, of course, but paired with a vintage embroidered waistcoat that my Gran gave me (she knows I’m a sucker for anything vintage). A topknot tied with a pale pink ribbon finished off the look perfectly. I wouldn't say it's the most practical choice for museum-hopping, but it did certainly turn heads!

Speaking of turning heads, you won’t believe my incredible find! While strolling through the museum's exquisite art collection, I came across a stunning exhibit showcasing German fashion history. My jaw hit the floor when I saw this fabulous, billowing tutu, entirely made of rich purple velvet. It was practically a ballerina's dream come true! You see, I've always loved a good tutu – they're so whimsical and free, but they always give me this wonderful feeling of strength and grace. The sheer craftsmanship of that velvet creation…well, let's just say I fell a little in love. It's certainly made me yearn for a velvet tutu of my own – I imagine the soft, velvety texture gliding across the stage... oh, the possibilities!

But my day was only just getting started. I was so taken by Edinburgh's beauty, and after a lovely cuppa and some delicious scones, I decided to explore a bit. Leith was my chosen spot - it’s full of colourful, characterful buildings and winding, cobbled streets, making it utterly enchanting for a tutu-wearing girl like myself! As I sashayed through the town, I bumped into a street performance, and my oh my! It was the most vibrant flamenco dance troupe you ever did see. The energy, the passion, the swirling skirts, and that wonderful flamenco stomp… it made me want to whip out a pirouette right there on the street! Thankfully, my love of all things pink prevailed, so I didn't cause a scene! But it definitely sparked a bit of my inner flamenco dancer, and now I'm seriously considering adding some fiery flamenco moves to my ballet repertoire.

Of course, a ballerina needs to refuel after such an exhilarating day, and thankfully, Edinburgh has no shortage of deliciousness. A warm shepherd's pie with a heap of creamy mashed potatoes (a little pink mashed potato wouldn’t hurt, would it?), a scoop of rich raspberry ripple ice cream (because pink, of course!), and a large glass of lemonade with a lemon twist (oh, the zing!), and my soul felt utterly satisfied! I just know there's nothing more delicious in the world than having a fabulous adventure, feeling like a ballerina even when I’m not twirling in a studio, and enjoying the beautiful things life has to offer, like stunning museums, flamenco dancers, and perfectly pink lemonades.

As the sun started setting, casting a warm golden glow over the city, I found myself sitting by the water, watching the waves crash against the shore. It was a perfect end to a perfect day. Sitting on the soft sand with the fresh air in my hair, the city lights twinkling around me, and a contented smile on my face… I realised how much I truly adore my adventures! The world is filled with so much magic – it's just waiting to be discovered!

Of course, my travels wouldn't be complete without my trusty steed - the railway. It might be a little slow at times, but it allows me to admire the landscapes of our little island as we journey across the countryside. Plus, the carriage is a little haven for daydreaming. There’s no better way to spend a few hours than drifting off with a book, watching the scenery pass by, and plotting my next ballet adventure. I can already imagine myself on my next big trip, exploring the wild moors of my Derbyshire homeland (oh, I do miss home!), or maybe heading south to watch the flamingos take flight over the salt flats of the Camargue in France (imagine the stunning pink against the blue skies! A girl can dream, right?).

So, you see, life for a tutu-loving ballerina can be pretty darn amazing! I'm constantly filled with inspiration - from museum masterpieces and dancing on cobblestone streets to breathtaking scenery and the boundless possibilities of tomorrow. But at the end of the day, the greatest adventures always come back to those beautiful pink tutus, reminding us to embrace our individuality, express our creativity, and always, always, always remember to dance like nobody’s watching (though, honestly, they always are! And why shouldn't they? A girl in a pink tutu is a sight to behold, isn't it?)

Until next time, dear readers, may your life be filled with pirouettes and pink!

Lots of love,

Emma
