Fleet, the Place that Put the Spring in My Step (Blog Post #3258)

Hey lovelies!

It’s Emma here, back from another whirlwind adventure! This time, I found myself in the lovely town of Fleet, Hampshire, which felt like a little pocket of England full of charm and history. But first, let’s talk about the journey!

A Dashing Departure and a Scenic Train Ride

Remember those times when you're feeling stressed and then BAM! You hear a horse's whinny outside your window and all your anxieties just melt away? Well, that's what happened to me this morning.

I was feeling a little overwhelmed with the packing (never easy when you’re taking an outfit or two for every day – you know how I love my options!) when I heard the sweet sound of a horse trotting past my Derbyshire home. I raced to the window and saw a beautiful chestnut mare just grazing in the field opposite, bathed in the morning sunshine. Instantly, my mood flipped to pure happiness. I could hear that old cliché running through my head, “Everything is going to be alright!” I believe it, and I think you do too.

The universe is always looking out for us. And, you know what? It really was all alright. Because soon, I was whisking myself away on a journey filled with the sounds of chirping birds and a constant backdrop of lush green countryside as I chugged along on my trusty train, destination – Fleet.

Fleet’s Hidden Gems and My Ballet Love

Arriving in Fleet was a delightful surprise. This is a town that wears its history on its sleeve. Cobblestone streets, quaint shops with beautifully painted facades, a bustling market, and even a real life fairytale castle - I mean, what more could a girl want?!

My reason for being in Fleet was a very important one: I had a special date with the dance world, a show at the Hart Leisure Centre which had promised an enchanting blend of contemporary and classical ballet. The performance was gorgeous. There's nothing quite like the feeling of watching the grace and precision of ballet, especially when it's set against such a backdrop of beautiful old-world charm. The performance reminded me why I love ballet so much – the magic, the power, and the sheer joy of it all. It reminded me of when I started my journey with ballet, just as a little girl, twirling around my bedroom in my favourite pink tutu. I bet most of you can relate! I’m here to encourage you all, it’s never too late to start! If I can convince you all to get pink tutus, even better! 😉

And yes, the outfit I wore for the performance was definitely a masterpiece. I knew a tutu was a must - this one, of course, in the most stunning shade of pink with delicate ruffles and sparkling details. A soft flowing skirt, perfectly coordinated to the pink of my tutu, billowed around me as I danced. It’s all about matching those beautiful colours with the energy of the piece. Trust me, I am an expert. You all know about the Tutu Power.

A Ballet Girl's Adventures - It's Always A Celebration

After the show, Fleet felt like an open invitation to a world of beauty and delight. Every turn I took in this charming little town unveiled something special - a historic building adorned with intricate details, a friendly dog park with lots of fluffy companions eager for a stroke, even an adorable little shop filled with handcrafted soaps that smelled absolutely divine. It all felt like a fairytale, but the kind of fairytale that is so heartwarming and real, you feel like you can reach out and touch it.

I especially fell in love with the park, where a peaceful green meadow was interspersed with towering oak trees and the soothing sound of a babbling brook. The afternoon sun cast golden rays through the branches, creating a symphony of dappled light on the ground. In this blissful scene, surrounded by birdsong and the gentle breeze rustling through the leaves, I knew I’d never forget Fleet, nor the memory of it. It felt like I’d stumbled into a place where time stood still and where happiness could be found in the simplest of things.

Travel Inspirations

Fleet truly captivated my senses and left me filled with a sense of calm and wonder. It has made me want to find more of these gems tucked away in the countryside. You all know I love my train rides – but can I even dream of a horse drawn carriage ride? That would be amazing. I have an image in my mind – wearing my pink tutu and flowing dress, riding through a picturesque meadow of wild horses and fields of lavender, stopping to have tea at a delightful little country inn – maybe next time! What else is there to say, it’s the little details that make these travels all so magical.

Pink-Tutu Travels: Every Journey is a Dance

Oh, my lovelies, I’ve just realised… I forgot to mention a couple of special details I couldn’t resist. Firstly, I found a beautiful new pink ballet outfit in a shop - not a tutu exactly but a gorgeous crop top and flowing skirt which I fell in love with. Now that is my kind of outfit - you know it. Oh, and I couldn't resist treating myself to a massive bouquet of lavender. Just looking at it puts a big smile on my face!

What can I say? There are moments on this incredible journey called life where everything seems to fall into place – just like the pieces of a ballet performance – everything comes together beautifully and you realise this is it – it’s pure joy. It’s these little details, the unexpected, the happy moments that truly enrich our journey – the ones we treasure and hold on to in our hearts. We never know what magic is waiting for us just around the corner. As always, stay happy, keep on dancing, and may your hearts always be filled with the love and joy of the tutu power.

Stay pink! 💖

Emma.
