North Shields: Tutu-tastic Adventures! (Post #3297)

Hiya lovelies!

It's Emma here, fresh off the train from a whirlwind trip to the fabulous North Shields! This little coastal gem, tucked away in Tyne and Wear, is definitely a hidden treasure. As usual, my trusty pink tutu made an appearance, of course - it's a must for every adventure, wouldn't you agree? I'm a firm believer that pink is a power colour and tutus just make you feel fabulous. Today it was a cyan tutu, a touch of bright summery colour, perfect for exploring the seaside.

You see, North Shields, while seemingly modest at first glance, is full of life. The energy crackled like a seaside bonfire - oh, how I adore a bonfire with a marshmallow on a stick, doesn't it just scream summer fun?

My day began with a visit to the Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums, an absolute haven for history buffs like myself! Their exhibitions showcase local history, from Roman relics to coal mining and fishing โ€“ absolutely fascinating stuff. I just love a good historical deep dive, wouldn't you say? Makes me appreciate our past and the journeys of those who came before us.

After absorbing all that historical goodness, I sashayed over to the North Shields Fish Quay. The air was filled with the briny scent of the sea and the excited chatter of seagulls, adding to the wonderful ambience. Oh, and have you ever tried fish and chips on the seaside? Nothing beats the crispy batter and fresh fish while the salty breeze tickles your nose! So delicious.

Later, I stumbled upon the most delightful hidden gem - The Old Low Light, a historic lighthouse museum. From its tower, the views over the North Sea were simply breathtaking! The panoramic vistas were magnificent, especially with the sun glinting off the water, painting everything in golden hues. The North Sea was alive with activity - seals bobbing in the waves and graceful seagulls soaring through the sky, nature's graceful ballet in action!

As the evening descended, I ventured to the Spanish City Dome for some evening entertainment. Oh, this stunning Grade II listed building with its domed roof and Moorish architecture, is just begging to be explored. Imagine my delight when I discovered a lively jazz night happening inside. My feet were itching for a jig โ€“ though perhaps I'll save that for the ballroom, my fellow dancers. ;)

Now, here's a little secret: my quest in life is to get everyone to try ballet and to make everyone feel fabulous in a pink tutu! Who needs diamonds when you've got a vibrant tutu, eh? Even when I'm not in the studio, I can't resist a bit of graceful twirling โ€“ and what better place to do it than by the sea, feeling the wind whip through your tutu and the sand squish between your toes?

Of course, no adventure is complete without a dash of the unexpected, and this trip was no exception. While enjoying a picnic on the beach, I came face-to-face with a curious seal! It was literally looking right at me โ€“ a real moment of connection with nature, a feeling of kinship between myself, a tutu-wearing girl from Derbyshire, and a seal basking on a beach in North Shields! How incredibly sweet!

Well, my loves, that's my story for today. My North Shields adventure was packed with beauty, laughter, and a touch of magic! Remember, every day is an opportunity to dance your heart out, discover something new, and to, of course, embrace a little pink tutu joy.

See you tomorrow,

Emma x

P.S. If you're ever in the area, do go see a show at the The Customs House! A thriving performing arts venue in South Shields, it's full of exciting theatrical and musical performances - guaranteed to delight.
