Hitchin: A Tutu-tastic Adventure!

#TutuBlog #3298

Hello my darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-wearing ballet enthusiast, Emma, and I'm back with a whirlwind of a blog post from my recent jaunt to Hitchin. Oh my, what a day! It truly was a "tutu-tastic" adventure, so let me fill you in on all the fab details.

A Derbyshire Girl Takes on Hertfordshire

As you know, my heart belongs to the rolling hills and green fields of Derbyshire, but sometimes a girl needs to broaden her horizons. This weekend, I felt a pull towards Hertfordshire, and so, clutching my trusty pink tutu and a handful of dance dreams, I embarked on a train journey like no other. There's just something about the gentle rhythm of a train ride that sparks creativity, especially when you're in a fluffy tutu!

The journey took me through charming countryside scenes, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of adventure, like I was stepping into a romantic novel. It’s a wonder we don’t all choose to travel by train more often – it’s so much more calming than battling the motorways, don’t you think?

A Day at the Ballet

My main aim for Hitchin was a performance at the beautiful Corn Exchange. This historical theatre was such a delight! Just imagining all the amazing performances that have graced its stage – I felt a shiver of excitement running down my spine.

And the show itself! It was absolutely divine. The dancers were magnificent, their leaps and twirls seeming to defy gravity, their costumes a whirlwind of colour and elegance. But let’s be honest, what really stole the show? You guessed it! A pink tutu in the front row! I’m just so glad I was there to witness the joy it brought to the whole audience! I even heard a little girl whisper to her mum, “I want a tutu like hers!” squeals

The play was inspired by Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, which was even more enchanting for being held in a venue so beautifully steeped in history. I simply couldn’t have wished for a better evening! I couldn't resist picking up a copy of the play at the gift shop - now to read up on Shakespeare so I can truly appreciate the artistry involved.

Finding Beauty in Hitchin’s Hidden Gems

But it wasn’t all ballet and Shakespeare! After the show, I strolled through the quaint streets of Hitchin, marveling at its charming architecture and hidden alleyways. There’s just something about small towns – their unhurried pace, their quiet corners full of hidden beauty – that truly soothes the soul.

Of course, no journey would be complete without a trip to a local cafĂ©. And wouldn’t you know it, Hitchin was overflowing with delightful tea rooms! I settled into one called “The Little Bakehouse,” a cute spot brimming with pastel-hued cakes and delicate china teacups. They even had a whole selection of cakes adorned with pink icing. Now that’s what I call a true taste of heaven!

Back to Derbyshire With a Heart Full of Inspiration

As my journey home began, I felt a pang of nostalgia, but also a deep sense of contentment. I'd had a truly unforgettable experience, filled with artistic brilliance, laughter, delicious food, and a dose of inspiration. But most importantly, I felt a growing conviction that I must continue to share my passion for ballet with the world.

Every time I embark on a new adventure, I return home feeling refreshed and ready to inspire others to dance. So, to all my lovely readers, keep an open mind, a twinkle in your eye, and a pink tutu in your wardrobe!

Until next time,

Your Pink-Tutu-Loving Friend, Emma
