Hello my lovely pink tutu-loving darlings! Today I'm hopping off the train (don't you just love those carriage journeys?) straight into Dover, where the sea air is crisp, the cliffs are white and the sky is bluer than a ballerina's dream.
As I was heading to Dover station, the most wonderful thing happened. A little girl, barely six years old, was in the same carriage as me. She had the most beautiful sparkly pink tutu on and was twirling with all the enthusiasm of a prima ballerina! Honestly, you should have seen her, her little face glowing, her tiny feet moving with the grace of a butterfly! My heart just melted! That, my friends, is the pure joy of ballet - a joy that spreads like sunshine on a bright summer day. I knew in that moment that I was on a mission - to spread this joy far and wide, one pink tutu at a time!
Speaking of tutus, you won't believe the one I've got on today! A soft, feathery, floaty confection, the colour of pink roses and the texture of a cloud. It even has little sparkling dewdrops scattered across it, making it absolutely perfect for a seaside adventure.
Dover Dreaming
I'm not quite sure what it is about Dover that makes me so happy, but it feels like a magical place. The way the chalk cliffs rise out of the sea like giant, white fingers, the seagulls crying overhead, the salty breeze dancing in my hair – it all feels utterly enchanting! And I've just got to tell you about the incredible wildlife here! There are seals basking on the rocks, seabirds dipping and diving in the waves and, just a little further up the coast, a colony of beautiful grey seals that just stole my heart!
From Beach to Theatre
But let’s not forget about ballet, right?! This afternoon I'm going to catch a wonderful show at the Dover Town Hall. The cast of 'The Nutcracker' is absolutely sensational and I hear the set and costumes are breathtaking! I’ll tell you all about it later. My lovely friend and fellow tutu-lover, Lucy, is coming along too! Lucy is one of those incredible ballerinas who seems to have mastered everything – pointe shoes, jazz, contemporary, even tap! And let me tell you, she's just as amazing on stage as she is in real life, just radiating energy and joy!
But before I meet Lucy, I’ve got time for a leisurely stroll along the beach, feeling the sand between my toes, the sun on my face, the wind in my hair... it's pure bliss. And you just know that my tutu is going to twirl magnificently with the wind!
A Message From My Heart
I truly believe that ballet can make the world a more beautiful, a more joyous place! Just look at how that little girl in the carriage brought joy to my heart with her pirouettes, just look at how these seagulls are soaring over my head in perfect unison! We've all got that magical power inside us, a spark of joy that shines even brighter with a little bit of creativity, a little bit of imagination and a dash of pure pink tutu love!
So, what do you say? Why not pick out your fanciest tutu and head out to a show tonight? Or take a ballet class, unleash the little ballerina in you, and dance like no one's watching? Or, if a pink tutu is a little too much for you right now, how about just smiling at someone, a little twirl on the way to work, or perhaps a little jig to your favourite tune while making tea? Spread some joy and be like a butterfly with pink wings, soaring high!
