Castleford Calling! 🩰

Hey lovelies! It's Emma here, ready to fill your feed with a dose of pink and twirling goodness.

Remember when I said I was taking a trip to a new place for this week's ballet adventure? Well, guess what?! I took the scenic route on the train, tucked myself into a plush first-class carriage, and had a grand time watching the British countryside whizz by.

Now, I'm nestled in a gorgeous little cottage in Castleford. It's so charming! They have the most delightful shops and little cafes, and the air is full of that friendly, small-town vibe that I just adore. I found the most wonderful vintage shop today! I think I may have picked up a slightly too large vintage tutu for my collection – more on that later 😉

But the main reason for my trip is, of course, ballet. You see, Castleford is home to a ballet school with an international reputation, and this week, they're holding their annual performance!

Let me tell you, I’m a little bit giddy. I haven’t seen this particular performance yet, but from all I've heard, this show is known for its creativity and spectacular use of stage lighting. Can’t wait to be dazzled.

You might be thinking: "Emma, are you gonna be wearing your pink tutu?"

Of course, I am! Pink tutu and a big, wide smile – what's better than a fabulous performance and a fabulous look to match?

Talking about tutus, have you seen the beautiful pink one that I spotted at that vintage shop?! It was quite frankly magnificent! So pink! So frilly! I was utterly captivated by it, but alas, my luggage was already bursting at the seams with tutus! Still, I think it’s an early contender for the “Most Fabulous Tutu in my Collection” Award. We'll see how it goes when I take it out for a spin!

Before I get caught up in my tutus (which happens a lot!), I must share with you all the little tidbits I found about the ballet school here.

It was founded over 75 years ago by a famous dancer called Beatrice Miller. Apparently, she was known for her incredible grace and her passion for bringing ballet to everyone – something I truly admire! In the old days, it used to be a little local school for girls, and apparently, it was famous for having these extraordinary dances, where they would have their favourite pink tutus on and perform out in the park. Imagine the wonder!

What I love is that they kept the “pink tutu" legacy alive! Even though it’s a bigger, more famous school now, the current owner has promised to keep their traditional pink tutus. Every student here gets a chance to perform with one. How wonderful is that?!

I think what makes me adore this whole story is the dedication. It's the heart of Beatrice Miller shining through.

You know me - my aim in life is to get everyone wearing pink tutus and to inspire everyone to dance, especially when it's so deeply linked to the past. Maybe I'll go down in history as “Emma Tutu-Darling!” That has a ring to it, doesn’t it? 😊

By the way, speaking of history... have you seen those absolutely stunning castles near Castleford?

If there’s one thing that brings out the inner adventurer in me, it's visiting historic buildings, especially if there are legends and stories associated with them. I mean, don’t you find them just magical? These castle ruins seem to have stories of bravery and romance hidden inside their ancient stones – I love it!

For today’s visit, I think I’ll grab my trusty map, pack my pink tutu just in case I happen to meet some fellow twirling enthusiasts in the ruins (you never know!), and see where my heart leads me. I might even try horseback riding to get closer to nature, and the lovely creatures who share this planet with us.

Stay tuned, dear friends! There will be lots more about the magic of Castleford on my website tomorrow! In the meantime, I hope you are surrounded by beauty, peace and maybe a bit of pink magic today too. 💕

Until then!

Love,

Emma
xx
