Walsall Whirlwind: Post #3705 🩰

Hey everyone, it’s Emma from www.pink-tutu.com, back with another dazzling day! It feels so good to be back on the blog, especially after the whirlwind that was Walsall! Let’s just say this city had my inner ballerina spinning…

So, remember my grand plan to see every ballet company in the UK? Well, it led me to Walsall, a charming town steeped in history and brimming with ballet magic. It's a place that surprised me, with a heart as big as its famous Walsall Saddlers football team!

I embarked on my adventure by train, of course! Nothing quite beats a comfy carriage and a cup of Earl Grey (extra milk and two sugars please!). I settled into a window seat and dreamt of all the tutu-licious adventures to come. You’ll never guess what I wore… a fabulous fuchsia pink tutu, paired with a pristine white blouse, a jaunty beret, and of course, my trusty pink ballerina flats. Every outfit is an opportunity to spread the joy of pink and dance!

Walsall itself was a delight, filled with picturesque squares and delightful cafes. After a spot of lunch with the most heavenly raspberry macarons, I took a stroll through the historic town centre. It's so magical how buildings and old streets whisper tales of the past! You could just feel the echoes of dancing and laughter through the cobblestones!

The real highlight was, of course, the Walsall Ballet Company's performance. They had me entranced with their graceful movements, captivating expressions, and undeniable passion for dance! It's this kind of artistic talent that inspires me. Each pirouette, every arabesque felt like a testament to the magic of movement. I have to admit, there were even a few tears in my eyes during a particularly poignant piece! The passion just gets to you, doesn’t it?

After the performance, I wandered through the beautiful Walsall Arboretum, its trees towering over the leafy paths like a canopy of dancers. I sat by a glistening lake, listening to the birdsong and admiring the fluffy clouds painting themselves on a clear blue canvas.

And who do I see just as I was snapping a picture of the perfect flamingo? The company’s principal ballerina, Clara! She was taking a break from rehearsals, and, true to her elegance, she was even sporting a delightful pale pink ballet wrap dress. After a quick chat, I even persuaded her to let me have a photo with her (you’ll find it on my Instagram - @pinktutuem!). She was incredibly friendly and passionate about getting more people to dance. We talked about everything - from the future of ballet in Walsall to the importance of tutus in everyday life. I’m just so grateful that she took the time to chat with me. It really felt like I was speaking to someone who understood me and my little pink tutu revolution.

But here’s the thing. You know that feeling you get when you truly love what you’re doing? That was Walsall, a town that genuinely loves ballet. And I fell a little bit in love with it, too!

Walsall will forever hold a special place in my heart - a reminder that dance transcends boundaries. The world, it seems, is a dance floor just waiting to be explored.

Before heading back to my home in Derbyshire, I stumbled upon a hidden gem, a wildlife sanctuary called the Walsall Arboretum! The majestic birds were absolutely captivating. You can almost see their elegant poses! I'm already plotting my return visit to explore the sanctuary and all its wild beauty, so look out for a blog post on that, too!

So, to everyone out there - remember to wear pink, dance like nobody’s watching, and always be open to new adventures. And you know, the more the merrier - perhaps try bringing a friend or even a whole ballet class to the Walsall Arboretum? I’m already plotting the next big tutu gathering in this delightful town!

Remember, every day is a new opportunity to spread joy and elegance. Dance your way through life, one pink tutu step at a time!

Until next time, darling.

Love,

Emma x
