Barking in a Cyan Tutu - Post #3728

Hello darlings! It's your favourite tutu-clad traveller, Emma, back with another adventure. Today, I'm whisking you away to the vibrant, bustling city of Barking, where I've been indulging in a little theatrical treat - a captivating ballet performance that had me spinning in my seat with delight.

But before I delve into the magical world of pirouettes and pliés, let me tell you about my journey. Ahem, did I mention I travelled to Barking via horse? I know, darling, how fabulous! Well, let me clarify – not riding myself, silly goose! A handsome carriage pulled by two noble steeds was my chariot for the day. I love nothing more than feeling the wind in my hair as I whizz through the countryside. I was lucky enough to have an adorable little groom accompany me, he held an umbrella above my head - pure chivalry, wasn't it?

Upon arriving in Barking, I must say, it was even more charming than I had imagined! A charming little town with an old-world charm, but buzzing with excitement. My first order of business, after of course, having a lovely cuppa at a tea shop called 'The Pink Rose' (don't you just love the name?), was to visit the magnificent Barking Abbey, a truly breathtaking historical gem. As I strolled through its serene grounds, I couldn't help but feel a touch of royal nostalgia – did I ever mention I have a fondness for all things Tudor, darlings?

Next up, it was off to the theatre! The local theatre, the "Barking Playhouse," was decorated with a beautiful turquoise trim - like the perfect splash of colour on a crisp white canvas. My outfit, however, was a lovely shade of vibrant cyan - a shade reminiscent of a ballerina's dreams, don't you think? (I know, I know - I'm just obsessed with tutus, I can't help it!). The performance was the most delightful little ballet rendition of Cinderella, a timeless classic brought to life with stunning costumes and heartfelt storytelling.

The choreography was divine - so beautifully executed with so much grace and precision! My personal favourite was the scene with the fairies – I can’t describe it, I was swept away by the magic! I must confess, darling, my heart ached when I saw the poor shoe fall off the heroine's tiny foot during the climax. Honestly, who would design a slipper like that?! You'd need a circus strongman to be able to wear it for any length of time!

But that's ballet for you, isn't it? The magic, the heartache, and the absolute pure artistry that pulls you right into its world! After the performance, I even had a chance to speak to the ballet master, a wonderfully charming man who told me all about their touring plans for the next year. (Now, why don't I make an announcement like this, darling? A big, glittery announcement? Maybe at a horse race! "Get ready for a fantastic show, and while you’re at it, pop on a tutu!". Oh, what a vision! We can do that next time, can't we?)

Before heading back to my home in Derbyshire, I felt compelled to visit the local wildlife park. (Because, what could be better than a charming theatrical performance than meeting some adorable fluffy creatures! Don’t be silly, I’ve got nothing against feathered friends). And what did I see at the park, you ask? Well, first there were these two adorable bunnies bouncing around with fluffy tails and big, bright eyes, I thought my heart would melt! Then there was a fluffy sheep that I almost convinced to give me a big hug! Almost is the operative word, darlings! Let's just say it bleated something in return and backed away.

All in all, a day well spent, wouldn't you say?

Oh, and as usual, I haven't forgotten the most important thing: why not spice up your week by rocking a vibrant pink tutu? You know you're secretly yearning to embrace your inner ballerina - don't let that pink tutu dream go unfulfilled, darlings! Until next time, may your steps be light, your skirts be twirling, and your smiles be brighter than a pink ballet shoe.

Xoxo, Emma
