Edgware, Darling! 💖🩰 (Post #3729)

Hello, my gorgeous darlings! It's Emma here, reporting live from sunny Edgware! Well, sunny for September, anyway. The leaves are just starting to turn, and the air is crisp and fresh, the kind that makes you feel alive. Oh, and guess what? I'm sporting my brand new bright pink tutu! It's simply divine – a bubblegum pink with a touch of shimmer that practically glows in the sunlight. 💖

Today's adventure took me on a glorious journey by train, chugging through the countryside on the way to the charming little town of Edgware. It's not the grandest of destinations, but it's home to a gem of a theatre, nestled right in the heart of the town, that hosts the most fabulous ballet performances! And that's exactly what I'm here for. This evening, it's The Nutcracker, my absolute favourite!

You know, I'm truly blessed to be able to follow my passions, combining my love for ballet with my wanderlust. This blog is my diary, a space for me to share my adventures with you, my lovely pink-tutu-loving fam!

This morning, before leaving Derbyshire, I started my day with a private ballet class with Mr. Davies, my wonderful tutor. It was the perfect warm-up for a long day of exploring and watching an evening of magical storytelling through ballet. Mr. Davies says I'm progressing well, although I confess I find his “pliés need to be a little deeper” critique a tad brisk – the man has a rather serious disposition, but you know what? He’s absolutely right. Deep, deep, pliés! 🩰

The train journey was a joy in itself. I settled into my first-class carriage (a girl's gotta travel in style, darlings!) with a cuppa and a copy of "The Secret Life of Bees." The English countryside whizzed past my window, a tapestry of verdant fields, ancient stone walls, and sleepy villages. I swear I even spotted a pair of deer gracefully leaping through the woods – oh, the joy of finding wildlife wherever you go!

I have to say, the highlight of the trip, before even arriving at the theatre, was definitely a charming little bakery I stumbled upon while waiting for my train at Euston station. It had the most divine smells wafting out, and I couldn’t resist buying a freshly-baked croissant – heaven! I devoured it with delight on the train, savoring every single crumb. 🥐

As for Edgware, it's a place with real character! You wouldn't think it from the first glance at the rather drab high street, but the theatre is something else altogether. It's got this Victorian elegance that makes you feel transported to another era. The ornate plasterwork, the velvety seating, the dimly-lit auditorium – I simply adore it! The perfect setting for an evening of ballet. I can’t wait to see what they have lined up for next season, perhaps a new performance by the Royal Ballet?

Now, darling, this is a day I will not forget. Being here, wearing this bright pink tutu, and seeing the performance of The Nutcracker for the first time in months - I'm positively giddy! As I’m typing, I’m already feeling a sense of melancholy about having to head back to Derbyshire tomorrow. Maybe I should extend my stay a day? Hmm… we’ll see what tomorrow brings.

Stay tuned, dears. Until then, stay fabulous!

Lots of love,

Emma x
