Kingswood Calling: A Pink Tutu Pilgrimage!

Hello my darlings! It's Emma, your pink-tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed friend, writing to you from the enchanting village of Kingswood. This place is like stepping into a fairytale, you know, all quaint cottages, rolling hills, and… yes, you guessed it… a rather spectacular ballet studio! 🩰

I’ve been touring the country, my dear friends, embracing all things ballet, spreading the love of tutus and twirls. You'll have to excuse me if I get a little bit excited about my adventures, as you know I love to chat all things ballet. It’s my passion, my obsession, my everything!

Today’s adventure began with a delightful journey by train. You see, I simply adore train travel. Something about the gentle sway of the carriage, the quiet hum of the engine, and the glimpse of rolling countryside just makes my heart sing! 🚂 I had to change at the station, though, so I treated myself to a little pink lemonade (a girl’s gotta have her essentials!).

Finally arriving at Kingswood, I felt a rush of anticipation. The air was crisp and smelled of autumn leaves and the kind of peaceful calmness you just can't find in a big city. As I wandered down the quaint little cobblestone streets, I spotted it! My new favourite ballet studio - "Kingswood Ballerina's Retreat" – painted a gorgeous shade of pastel pink, just the way I like it! 😍

You can only imagine the thrill! I just HAD to step inside. Inside the studio, it was a symphony of light and movement. All shades of pink and ballet shoes everywhere - I swear, my eyes nearly popped out of my head! And the most amazing thing about it? The studio had a proper stage with red velvet curtains. Talk about an actual “ballerina’s dream!”

Oh, and the studio owner – Miss Darcy - she is a sweetheart! We sat down over tea (yes, they do that!) and chatted about everything ballet. We talked about classical ballet, of course, and the importance of good form. Miss Darcy said that even the most modern ballet movements are based on classical technique, and that good form can take a ballet dancer to a new level! And how true that is! We all need to keep on top of those pointe shoes and port de bras practice - you can never rest on your laurels!

I had a delightful ballet lesson there too, which was a fantastic workout! The studio offered a ballet class called "Flow & Flow," which, despite being on the modern ballet spectrum, did still have that wonderful feel of grace, movement, and strength - exactly how I love it! I managed to learn a couple of beautiful sequences which I just know I am going to use at a street performance soon! It is so fantastic to discover new moves and push yourself to new levels - I am definitely going to look for new dance challenges like this during my travels. And you know I will be reporting on those new discoveries!

But it wasn't all about ballet. Oh no, Kingswood is full of hidden treasures. We had a delightful picnic by the river (with pink prosecco, of course - why not?). I even caught a glimpse of a little fawn deer, right out of a fairytale! The beauty of the place took my breath away. 🦌

It's the perfect kind of village for someone like me, a place that combines peace and beauty with a vibrant passion for the arts. There’s an old Victorian tea room on the high street – "The Strawberry Cream Tea Room" – where they served us the most beautiful selection of pastries and teas! A treat like that needs to be indulged in, no? 🍰 Of course, they didn't have a single pink éclair… tut tut. A little pink touch, I think, would go a long way. And how amazing it would look against those beautiful Victorian high ceilings - such potential!

After that beautiful afternoon, I took a stroll through the village, enjoying the views of the rolling hills. In fact, there's a whole pathway for walkers that weaves through the entire area - you can see where Kingswood got its name! It would be a perfect opportunity for me to have another photo opportunity, wearing my newest pink tulle skirt and this adorable tutu I picked up from a little vintage boutique - oh my, my fellow ballet lovers - the perfect “tutu-for-all-seasons" that you just have to get your hands on. I wore it on my Instagram too – check out @PinkTutuTravels – I added a pretty vintage style filter (you just know I did!). It will match those beautiful pictures of Kingswood perfectly - you simply must check it out!

Oh, and the sunset! I stood on top of one of those picturesque rolling hills, bathed in golden light, and my heart sang with pure joy. This whole experience in Kingswood has been so peaceful and fulfilling, my darlings. That's how I feel when I'm dancing. That sense of connection to nature, beauty, and pure passion.

Before leaving Kingswood, I made a trip to the local stables. And just look! My pink boots had to be part of my next photo - it’s just the right look to go with a visit to these gorgeous creatures! We were offered a pony ride and – of course, I couldn't refuse. They were the sweetest little horses, and I swear they knew exactly what to do. Maybe I should add horseback riding to my new goals list!

I do believe Kingswood has stolen a little piece of my heart. It's just the kind of place that makes me dream big. It reminded me that no matter where you go, there's always something beautiful to be discovered. It just takes a little bit of curiosity, a lot of pink tulle, and the confidence to dance your way through life.

And if you happen to be in Kingswood anytime soon, don't forget to check out that delightful pink studio. They’ll make you want to dance until your shoes sparkle. Remember: Every day is an opportunity to put on your tutu, unleash your inner ballerina, and spread the love of dance!

Love always, Emma xx
