Highbury, Oh Highbury! (Post #3853)

Hello, my darlings! It's your girl, Emma, back again with another post, straight from the heart of London! Well, okay, not quite the centre, but Highbury is certainly chic, wouldn't you say?

And let's talk about this weekend, shall we? It was absolute perfection. A trip to the city, a dose of ballet, and oh, that Italian tutu...

This all started with a charming train journey to London on Thursday. It was so peaceful watching the countryside fly by, those sheep grazing, the little stone villages… a perfect reminder of why I love travelling by train. Plus, it gives me a chance to slip into my little ballerina-inspired travel look - a crisp white blouse, my trusty black leggings, and my darling blush-pink tutu, tied neatly around my bag.

By Friday afternoon, I was right in the heart of London, the excitement tingling in my fingertips. First stop: the glorious ballet class I'd been itching to try. The studio was bathed in a soft pink glow - oh, they knew what they were doing! And my oh my, the tutus. Just rows of them, floating and whispering. But the highlight of my day? The other ballerinas. I swear, these Londoners had more attitude than a box of sequins!

As for the class, it was brilliant. I felt those muscles firing like tiny fireworks - exhilarating! It’s funny how even just one hour of ballet can lift your whole spirit.

Friday evening found me snuggled in a quaint Italian restaurant in the heart of Highbury, where I discovered a truly wondrous tutu. It was a bright, bold fuchsia, almost shimmering with that "come hither" glamour. A modern twist on the classic silhouette, with beautiful layers and a hint of a dramatic frill. It was pure Italian theatre - bold, colourful, captivating! I’ve gotta find the time to sew something similar for my wardrobe.

On Saturday morning, I was feeling all that ballerina energy, so off I went for a very impromptu photo shoot with the ducks in Regent's Park! This duck pond is seriously full of attitude and I have to confess, it felt rather appropriate to be twirling a ballerina's pink tulle amongst them. Just imagine the Instagram posts - #PinkTutuQueen #LondonDucks. You know I’ve gotta have the perfect pink tutu to take pictures in and make those envious.

By late Saturday afternoon, we were settling into our seats for the show – a fantastic contemporary ballet at the Sadler's Wells Theatre. You know me, I just love those contemporary works - they always get my brain thinking, they're like puzzles in movement. But it was also lovely seeing those traditional costumes. Such a stunning way to end a glorious weekend.

As I sit here, writing my blog back in the serenity of my Derbyshire home, a beautiful feeling washes over me - it was an enchanting weekend, just what the ballerina-in-me needed. This trip to London served as a fantastic reminder of why I love this life, the magic of travel, the excitement of ballet, the thrill of fashion... all those little pink-tinted moments that make life so deliciously beautiful.

Until next time, my lovelies. Remember: pink tutus, ballet, travel, and joy - it’s the recipe for a happy life! And don’t forget to spread the joy - tell your friends, tell your families, and especially tell your neighbours... I want to see a pink tutu on everyone in the world!

Always with love,

Emma xx
