Edgware, darling!

Oh my darlings, what a glorious day! It started, as usual, with a fabulous ballet class, all graceful pirouettes and effortless arabesques, even if my derrière did ache a tad more this morning after a rather energetic leaping session (did I mention the gym had the audacity to put "I Believe in Miracles" on repeat? I mean, what is it with the gyms? You'd think they'd have the gumption to play some classy French pop tunes like "Une Nuit Au Paradis"). Anyway, I emerged from the studio practically radiating joy and feeling like a beautiful pink-hued butterfly.

But wait for it! There was more! My darling Aunt Tilly had gifted me a red tutu! I know, I know, how divine? Red. Red! I mean, the most stunning crimson shade, as bold as the lipsticks I adore and just begging to be twirled! I practically sprinted home, threw on the tutu (a little twirl just for good measure, of course) and practically skipped onto the train!

I was headed for Edgware, a charming little corner of North West London, because today, darling, I was off to the most wonderful show. The Edgware Ballet Theatre was presenting Cinderella! It was going to be glorious! A carriage fit for a fairy godmother, dancing mice, a dashing prince, and of course, all the magical mayhem you could possibly want. And did I mention it would feature not one, not two, but three adorable little tutus for the children in the cast? (Isn't it so heartwarming seeing them all dancing? Such sweet little lambs).

The journey by train was perfect (all steamy windows and countryside flitting by) but the real magic happened at the theatre! First, a magnificent performance, filled with grace and elegance and those oh-so-dramatic moments that made my heart flutter. And, of course, all the costumes! They were absolutely fabulous! Especially Cinderella's transformation scene! Honestly, I felt like I'd stepped straight into a fairytale. And they served these divine pink iced cupcakes in the interval, you simply must try one.

Then, then the absolute pièce de résistance. After the curtain call (all bowing, waving, and clapping in perfect synchronicity!), a beautiful young lady with twinkling eyes and a mischievous smile approached me. She held a magnificent red tutu, a vision of shimmering crimson glory. She told me with a shy smile that her favourite ballet costume was also red. "So, I knew this tutu needed to go to a special ballerina." I practically melted. A fellow tutu-lover? We practically squealed with joy and I swear I almost burst into a little pas de bourrée right there on the spot! She had even managed to weave in a bit of pink embroidery (it was so subtle, but utterly delightful).

Now, darling, the only thing left to do was put this amazing day to paper! That's why I'm writing this post at a cute little café near my favourite park (where, fun fact, they have an adorable statue of a ballerina!).

But, you know me, I love a good adventure! After indulging in a decadent slice of pink and red velvet cake (which I insist you try if you ever get the chance, it's the perfect blend of delightful and divine!), I'm off to explore the beautiful nearby Hertfordshire countryside. Rumour has it there is an adorable local riding stable that I’d love to find. And they say there is a herd of deer (so utterly charming). Maybe, I'll even try to take a little trot around the area! A ballerina on horseback, it would be absolutely divine!

As always, darling, stay fabulous. Remember, all you need is a bit of pink (and perhaps a tutu) to make life a magical adventure! Until next time...

Emma xx
