Bridgwater Calling! (Blog Post #4037)

Oh my darlings, how are you all doing? Hope you're all well, and that you're all feeling positively twirly today! I'm sitting here in my little flat in Derbyshire, a cuppa in hand and my pink fluffy dressing gown snuggled on. I'm still feeling the afterglow of a fab trip to Bridgwater - the name alone is music to my ears!

It all started with an invite to a ballet class, held in a stunning old theatre that’s been lovingly restored. They do have a wonderful theatre scene down there! Honestly, you'd think I was walking onto the set of a period drama with the beautiful cobbled streets and those amazing old buildings!

Bridgwater - Pancake Paradise

So, Bridgwater, I'm just gonna say it: the place absolutely oozed a quirky, artsy charm, and not just because of the pancake restaurant next to the theatre (where I obviously had to stop for a post-class treat)! They do this amazing pancake stack with fresh fruit and cream – I swear it was even better than a good ballerina’s after-practice chocolate bar. They made their pancakes in a big flat pan, like those ancient tools they use in museums. It felt so vintage and romantic. They actually make everything fresh in this café; the staff were super friendly and knew all their ingredients inside out. It's not just pancakes either, the tea and coffee were top notch! Definitely a gem of a place for tea and cake, right by the theatre too.

Riding to the Rhythm

Anyway, the ballet class was…well, let's just say I was totally inspired by the Bridgwater dancers! The whole vibe was so passionate and joyful, which made it such a wonderful experience! We got to learn a really lovely choreography – we all ended up doing this beautiful arabesque to the sound of a violin playing Bach - honestly, you could feel the magic in the air! Plus, getting to practice pirouettes by the gorgeous window looking onto the busy town square? Yes, please! And as the sun peeked in, it actually reminded me of those lovely old Victorian illustrations you find in ballet books! It was magical.

A Trip Back in Time

You know, after class, I took a bit of time to wander around the streets and discover all the hidden treasures this charming town has to offer. It's been pretty well preserved over the years, which I adore. I even took a ride in a horse-drawn carriage – such a whimsical treat! They had a special ‘royal’ package which included a stop at the local pub for afternoon tea. The horses were majestic, a lovely gentle breed. So elegant, almost like ballet dancers in their own way!

Living my Tutu Dream

But it wouldn’t be a trip by me without a touch of my signature flair, right? Well, naturally, I brought along my trusty pink tutu (of course!) – this time a fabulous number covered in sparkly sequins, for that extra twinkle! I took some gorgeous snaps for Instagram – oh my goodness, I’m already receiving compliments! But then again, when you've got the perfect pink tutu, you know how to grab some attention!

Speaking of tutus, I saw this gorgeous vintage ballet shop just around the corner from the pancake place – all frills and fluff, honestly! It reminded me of those old-fashioned shops you'd find in Victorian times with all their elaborate displays and delicate items. I found this gorgeous, pastel-coloured tulle, the softest pink imaginable! And the best bit? They had this beautiful collection of ballet shoes! I snagged myself a pair of pretty pointed-toe slippers, with the cutest ribbons – a reminder of this lovely town!

Bridgwater – The Place for Inspiration

So, what's my takeaway from this fab trip? Well, it's been a great reminder that there's beauty to be found in every corner, even in the most unexpected places! Whether it’s a cosy pancake café, a historic theatre, or a vintage ballet shop, there's magic waiting for everyone to discover – if they know where to look! Oh, and of course, every occasion is the perfect time for a tutu – even if you're just taking a trip to your local tea shop for a quick cuppa!

Do let me know if you're planning on a visit to this lovely place! And hey, who knows, perhaps you’ll see me dancing through the streets one day soon, my tutu flowing behind me! Catch you soon!

Love,

Emma xx
