Wellington Wonders: Tutu Tales From The Capital, Post #4119

Greetings, lovely ladies!

Well, here I am in Wellington, New Zealand, and let me tell you, it's absolutely delightful! I arrived yesterday afternoon after a magical journey aboard the TranzAlpine train. The views were breathtaking, from lush green valleys to towering snow-capped mountains. And of course, I wore my favourite pink tutu for the journey. What better way to celebrate the beauty of the countryside than in a swirl of pink tulle?

Speaking of swirls, have I got a story for you! I hopped off the train in the capital city and immediately made my way to Wellington's famous Botanical Garden. Picture this: sunshine dappling through the trees, birds singing their hearts out, and me, pirouetting on the manicured lawns in my green tutu!

Yes, you read that right – green! I’m slowly venturing outside the confines of pink. It’s just not easy giving up the fabulous shade of my birth place.

Don’t worry, the tutu still had a definite 'Emma' style. I was all set for my photo shoot - well, as I’m never entirely sure where I’m going in life - but it just so happened that a friendly wildlife photographer saw my tutu swirling. I felt very graceful and poised like a true ballerina. He approached me with a broad smile and offered to take my photo, not just with the garden's magnificent views as my backdrop, but with a family of curious kiwis!

Let’s just say he loved the tutu as much as the kiwi birds. As did I.

Can you believe I got to have my photo taken with one of New Zealand’s national birds in my pink-inspired tutu? It was magical. They are such amazing creatures, small but fearless! Just like a dancer, they use their incredible strength to explore and navigate their surroundings. It’s quite a life lesson, don’t you think?

I couldn’t help but think about how important it is to embrace the unique beauty of every place we visit, just like a dancer embraces the elegance of movement. As much as I’ve enjoyed this trip, nothing beats a spot of ballet back in Derbyshire. That's where my heart is. The energy, the artistry, the sheer beauty of watching professional dancers soar across the stage – it fills me with joy and inspiration. Of course, a tutu is the key.

It’s the joy and excitement of a ballet class and the elegance and artistry of the shows that draws me to the dance. I’m trying to bring that excitement to others – but how do you make people see how brilliant ballet is? Perhaps by creating a community and promoting how everyone, at any age and size, can enjoy the freedom of the ballet. As always, I believe a pink tutu might be the answer to bring a little ballerina out of us all.

My trip to New Zealand wouldn’t be complete without attending a show at the Wellington Opera House. It was a spectacular performance! I've seen so many fabulous productions in my time - both on the West End and on Broadway - and it was amazing to be mesmerised once again by the grace of professional ballet. It really set my heart racing, and I was tempted to leap onto the stage to join them, green tutu and all!

It wasn’t the ballet however that really stood out. I enjoyed the theatre, the grandeur of the space, the ornate decor - I loved it all! It was truly breathtaking. However, after the performance, as I was gazing out onto the bustling streets from my window, it was the incredible skyline that stole the show! It felt like being transported into a beautiful painting, with shimmering lights reflected in the harbour. Just another reminder that life is truly a work of art, waiting to be appreciated and cherished.

I’m now off to explore a bit more of this beautiful island. And for those who want to keep up with my travels (or simply see the tutu-inspired photos) remember to follow my adventures daily on www.pink-tutu.com. Until then, remember - a pink tutu (or any tutu for that matter) is not just a piece of clothing, it's a statement, an expression of joy, and a symbol of freedom! Let's spread the magic of the tutu wherever we go.

Sending love and twirls, Emma
