Birmingham Bound: Pink Tutu Adventures #4646

Hello, darlings! It’s Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to Birmingham, where the pink tutu was in full swing, naturally! As always, you know my life is all about spreading the joy of ballet and pink tutus – it's almost like a mission statement! Today I thought I'd tell you all about my fab adventures in the heart of the Midlands, a city I haven’t visited in ages.

Oh, before I forget, please do pop over to my website, www.pink-tutu.com, to see the pictures I took on my adventure. And of course, keep checking in daily for my latest updates, it’s such fun having you all on this pink tutu journey with me.

So, my trip to Brum started with a train journey from my lovely Derbyshire countryside home. I love the romantic feeling of train travel – the swaying carriages, the click-clacking rhythm of the tracks…and all the delicious sandwiches at the station! It's much more fun than flying, honestly. And besides, I just couldn't imagine trying to squeeze my fabulous pink tutu into an airplane seat!

My destination? A breathtaking performance by the Royal Ballet at the Birmingham Hippodrome, the biggest and most impressive theatre I’ve ever seen. My outfit, as you'd expect, was a shimmering pink tutu – my favourite, with the fluffy tulle and glittery diamantés, just the thing for a night of ballet brilliance. And to top it all off, I was wearing my gorgeous pink fur-trimmed coat – definitely keeping me warm in the slightly chilly March air!

The performance was phenomenal, absolutely breathtaking! The Royal Ballet are always top-notch, but they were truly spectacular on this occasion, particularly in the last scene of Giselle. It just seemed to encapsulate the beauty and sorrow of dance, and of course, that magical world of make-believe and wonder. I was enthralled. As I watched the ballerinas pirouette across the stage in their beautiful costumes, my heart filled with a deep sense of awe, joy, and maybe just a tiny bit of envy…though, of course, I was so excited for them.

After the show, I met up with my dear friend Millie for a nightcap at a chic little cocktail bar. Millie, who you might know from my blog posts, is a total style icon and fellow ballet enthusiast. We just couldn't resist talking about the performance – the breathtaking leaps, the flawless artistry – and, of course, all the gorgeous costumes.

But of course, Millie wouldn't be Millie without a dash of rebellious fashion flair. She wore her tutu, yes, but layered with a black leather jacket, knee-high boots, and an incredibly chic fedora. And just to make it a little wilder, she paired her outfit with a beautiful ruby-red lipstick – just incredible! She is a shining example of why ballet and pink tutus should be embraced by everyone.

And let's be honest, girls, why restrict our love of tutus to the stage? What could be more liberating than twirling down the street, the wind whipping through your pink tulle, making everyone you pass smile? It's the ultimate fashion statement!

Of course, I don't only adore ballet performances. My passion extends to ballet classes as well. They offer a wonderful way to keep my body in top shape and to really embrace the discipline of ballet. So, before leaving Birmingham, I squeezed in a class at the Birmingham Dance Academy. What an experience! The room was flooded with natural light, the air was filled with the uplifting energy of fellow dance enthusiasts, and the atmosphere was simply joyous. I was in my element, I tell you!

Speaking of joyful experiences, my adventures in Birmingham weren’t all about dancing! I had a wonderful encounter with some cheeky squirrels at Cannon Hill Park – a real haven for nature-lovers, which you will see in the pictures. I swear, these little critters were practically begging for cuddles! It's a testament to the beauty and wonder of the natural world that can be found in unexpected places. The birds were just gorgeous too, especially the robins. They just sang beautifully to my delight, and all while I admired a bunch of horses - those creatures always have something magic about them. Just thinking of those wonderful horses fills me with so much joy!

Birmingham also offers a great selection of boutiques where I found some gorgeous pieces to add to my pink tutu collection, as you know I can’t resist adding some gorgeous new things to my collection!

There was a cute little cafe called ‘The Tea Room’ - just perfect for a spot of afternoon tea after a long day of shopping, where the sandwiches were delicious, and the scones… heavenly! And don't even get me started on the selection of teas - simply delightful. Of course, it was adorned in shades of pink - how could I possibly miss it? It's hard to imagine a world where people can't immediately see a cute cafe through the haze of all the other grey and brown cafe-types. Just like tutus are so eye-catching and just full of bright beautiful colour!

Before leaving Birmingham, I picked up some fantastically fragrant pink lilies for my home, adding another dash of colour to my already delightful pink-tutu-filled home.

You know, sometimes it's those little things, like a burst of pink lilies or a delightful afternoon tea, that really make life wonderful. It just reminds you that every day is an opportunity for joy and wonder! And of course, I will be trying to keep that pink tutu front and centre - my little slice of joy that brightens every day!

This city has certainly got something special about it - the architecture, the art, and its passion for performance, culture, and nature, and of course, a bit of good old fashioned style! And honestly, what’s better than spreading that wonderful love of dance and joy? I think my time in Birmingham just reaffirmed my belief in the power of pink tutus to bring everyone together, and just maybe, even make the world a slightly brighter, happier, and more fabulous place!

Don’t forget, darling, keep your eyes peeled for more adventures from Emma and her pink tutu, posted every day on www.pink-tutu.com! I can't wait to hear about your pink tutu escapades – do let me know! I look forward to chatting with you soon!

Much love,

Emma xxx
