Bonjour from Berlin! (Post #4939)

Pink-tutu.com, 10th January 2010

Bonjour mes amis! It’s your favourite tutu-loving ballerina, Emma, reporting live from the fabulous city of Berlin!

After a magical train journey through the heart of Europe, I’ve finally arrived in this vibrant city, and I can already feel the buzz! Berlin is overflowing with creativity and a sense of artistic adventure, and I’m absolutely soaking it all in. I’m here to see the exquisite Staatsballett Berlin perform, and let me tell you, I am absolutely quivering with excitement! They say the dancers are phenomenal, and I'm itching to be swept away by their talent.

Now, as you know, no trip for this ballerina is complete without a dose of Parisian chic, so I decided to wear my new tulle skirt from the #TutuBlog sale – you guys know I’m always on the lookout for the perfect tutus, and this one is absolutely dreamy!

It’s a delicate pale pink with layers of ruffled tulle that are almost ethereal. It twirls perfectly, capturing the wind and making me feel like I’m waltzing on clouds. Imagine me, dancing along the platform, feeling like a fairytale princess amongst the bustling German commuters, a smile plastered across my face. What a lovely welcome I've had in this charming city!

Berlin is full of fascinating corners waiting to be discovered, and I’m going to be exploring them all, camera in hand! The other day I was strolling through Tiergarten park – this absolutely magnificent expanse of green right in the heart of Berlin. I found myself completely engrossed in the quiet elegance of the place, captivated by the majesty of nature amongst such a vibrant urban environment. It really gave me pause to reflect on life and how precious it is.

I even spotted a family of graceful swans gliding across the surface of the lake, so serenely calm amongst the babbling fountains. The swans almost resembled ballerina dancers, with their effortless, fluid movements – a perfect little ballet in the heart of Berlin! Their graceful poise reminded me that true beauty can be found in the most unexpected of places. And I just know I have to get a photo with a pink tutu swan. This must be done.

Last night I went to the Staatsballett Berlin performance of "Giselle," and oh my, it was absolutely breathtaking. The dancers' ethereal movements were so mesmerizing! They floated, they twirled, they leapt with such lightness, capturing the essence of classical ballet so beautifully.

Watching "Giselle" felt like I was stepping into another world, transported by the beauty and drama of the story. I felt myself completely immersed in the performance, my heart racing with anticipation as I hung onto every gesture and every nuance of the dancers’ expressions.

But the best part of this ballet is that the ballerina’s signature tutus are utterly beautiful. In fact, they're so exquisite that they've sparked an idea – I'm going to do a Tutu Tuesday post dedicated to ballet tutus – stay tuned, darlings!

Oh, speaking of Tutu Tuesdays I almost forgot! There was a fab little vintage store nearby the ballet, which reminded me of those romantic antique shops back in my beloved Derbyshire – you know, where I grew up? It was a haven of trinkets and treasures, including a gorgeous, vintage tutu, beautifully crafted and covered in layers of delicate lace. Imagine it – it would be perfect for a performance or even a special occasion – I had to add it to my ever-growing collection. What do you think – should I share a photo of it on the blog? Let me know in the comments!

Now, enough about me - tell me what's going on in your ballet world! Are you doing any shows? Or going to the theatre? Or maybe taking a ballet class? Let's share some inspiration!

This whole trip to Berlin has already re-inspired me. It’s been a fantastic reminder to never stop believing in your dreams, to always chase those passions, and to never let the love for the graceful artistry of dance fade. It’s made me want to get everyone wearing a pink tutu – and, you know, who wouldn’t love that? Ballet really does bring joy into every life, no matter who you are.

And with that, I'll be getting ready to see the beautiful cityscape from the back of a horse and carriage. This really is the most romantic city, isn't it? So tell me, what’s your favourite part of your day, what inspires you? Share with me and the pink-tutu.com community!

A bientôt!

Emma
