Stevenage Calling! 🩰💕

Post number: 4966

Hello lovelies!

Today was such a magical trip to Stevenage - think pink, think twirling, think fairy magic, think TUTU! The weather was a bit nippy (I swear the English climate just isn’t made for a ballerina in a tutu!) but that just gave me an excuse to wear my sparkly pink puffer jacket, which honestly, was just the right amount of warmth and glam for a day out exploring this lovely town.

Right, let's rewind. This morning, I started as I always do - with a lovely latte (thank you, local coffee shop!), followed by some barre work in my tiny but perfectly formed home studio. I love a good home workout! I then had to get ready for my Stevenage adventure, which involved my usual frenzy of outfit planning and trying on different tutus. I’m really glad I settled on my fairy-themed tutu with all the sequins - it perfectly captured the whimsical spirit of my day.

After a quick, refreshing shower, I jumped into a fab vintage car that my friend kindly drove me down to Stevenage station. A trip by car or by train is always exciting for me, you never know who you'll encounter. I must admit though, I still hold a special place in my heart for journeys on horseback - the feeling of the wind in my hair and the horse’s graceful strides are pure joy.

The journey from Derbyshire to Stevenage wasn’t long at all. The view was breathtaking. I watched as the green English countryside unfolded with its rolling hills and the sleepy, picturesque villages, reminding me of the beauty that surrounds us. Arriving at Stevenage Station, I was struck by the modern feel of the town, so different from my lovely little village in Derbyshire. There was so much life and energy here - shops and cafes bustling, people rushing to their destinations, and a sense of vibrant youthfulness in the air.

I couldn’t resist popping into one of the quaint local cafes, and what better way to celebrate the arrival in Stevenage than with a massive pink cupcake? It was heavenly! I almost felt guilty for devouring it, but hey, it was just so perfectly pink. It also provided a sugar boost for my afternoon activities.

My mission for the day? To bring a little sprinkle of tutu magic to Stevenage! And it was a success! First stop: The Stevenage Museum. My heart fluttered as I explored this historical gem, and imagine my delight when I stumbled upon a lovely old ballet costume from the early 20th century. The bodice, oh my, so intricately beaded - I almost forgot to admire the intricate fabric patterns. I think the lady who wore it must have been a graceful, lovely lady - I’d love to see her dance, she had to have been magical.

After the museum, it was time for a stroll in the town centre. My tutu, of course, turned heads. The sun was out by now, which made for even better photographs (sorry, but my #pinktutulife has to be documented)! I felt a surge of delight as people smiled at me, some even complimented my choice of tutu. Maybe my small gesture, my own little ballerina statement, was reminding others that even in everyday life, we can inject a little fun and embrace a touch of whimsy!

One thing I love about exploring new towns is encountering the local wildlife. Today, I was lucky enough to spot some beautiful, playful grey squirrels leaping around the park, their bushy tails twitching playfully.

Of course, the main highlight of the day was a truly enchanting ballet performance at the Gordon Craig Theatre! The ballet was so graceful and heartwarming, telling a beautiful story through every elegant gesture. Watching these incredibly talented dancers weave their stories with every leap, turn, and arabesque made me feel incredibly alive. The atmosphere of the theatre itself was magical, full of anticipation and the vibrant energy of the audience.

After the show, the streets were quieter, filled with the gentle hum of conversations, and that comforting air of calm after an incredible experience. I realised how incredibly lucky I was to live in a world where I could just hop on a train, or a horse, and be in a completely different environment, experiencing a different atmosphere and different culture.

I must admit, by the time I boarded the train home to Derbyshire, my feet were aching a little - but it was an aching I felt happy to bear! And the good news is, that's just how I know it was a really, truly wonderful day.

I’m going to try to incorporate more ballet themed travel adventures into my schedule. Perhaps I can convince the folks on the train to give a whirl on my tutu next time?

Stay tuned for more pink tutu adventures and keep those tutus twirling! 💕

Love,

Emma www.pink-tutu.com
