Hartlepool, my little seaside haven - TutuBlog Post #4967

Oh, hello my darlings! Emma here, reporting live from Hartlepool! Yes, you heard that right - I’m venturing further up north, swapping the Peak District's rolling hills for the breezy shores of this charming little coastal town. I’m positively buzzing with excitement, and it’s not just the fresh sea air getting to my head! This adventure is extra special, as I'm bringing a special tutu with me - a nature-inspired masterpiece I just had to share with you!

But before we get into that, let’s talk about the journey. What’s a girl to do when faced with the prospect of traveling for a few hours? Well, if you haven't guessed it already - I took the train! A train journey, especially through the rolling countryside, is a ballet in itself. It’s a feast for the senses, a graceful flow of scenery that reminds me of all the intricate movements in a ballet routine. I just love the feeling of being on the tracks, watching the world roll past as I enjoy a little afternoon tea and maybe a scone or two – those delicious treats just add to the feeling of being all dressed up and going places.

Speaking of going places, my journey took me right past a field where a herd of horses were grazing. Talk about beautiful! It was the most captivating sight, the dappled sunlight playing on their glossy coats, and those powerful legs swaying with each movement - just mesmerising. Now, let’s just say, I definitely have a moment of longing in my heart for horseback riding again, though a horse-drawn carriage is the next best thing (and definitely a little more elegant, don't you think?).

Anyway, enough of my travels, let's get to the main event - the reason I packed my suitcase full of pink frills and headed towards the north east!

My trip is centered around the Hartlepool Nature Reserve. I'm so excited to be experiencing this beautiful area - an urban haven filled with lush wildlife and picturesque coastal views. I know, you’re probably thinking ‘Why Hartlepool?’. It’s not your typical, Instagram-worthy getaway, but there's something so charming and rustic about this little corner of England. It’s about exploring hidden gems, enjoying the simple things in life, and embracing nature’s raw beauty. And that's exactly why I’ve designed a special tutu just for the occasion – a playful and joyful piece inspired by the magic of the natural world!

The 'Sea & Sun' Tutu

Imagine the crashing waves, the sun peeking through the clouds, the salty breeze... and then imagine those elements woven into the most delicate pink tutu - with little seashells, starfish, and even some fluffy clouds dotted throughout.

Yes, I am totally obsessed with this creation, and the inspiration for it couldn't be simpler - Hartlepool’s nature reserve itself!

From the minute I arrived, the wildlife has been making all sorts of lovely appearances - the most charming seagulls fluttering their feathers with gusto as they hunt for a tasty morsel, and then there were the graceful swans and their little cygnets, sailing effortlessly over the calm water, and a colony of seabirds just hanging around, chirping and doing whatever seabirds do - oh the joy! I can't help but imagine their elegant movements like a ballet performance in their own right - nature really is the ultimate performer.

So, I went and created this beautiful ‘Sea & Sun’ tutu, all inspired by those gorgeous creatures. I know I’ve mentioned this before but I am truly blessed, I find inspiration everywhere! Even the smallest detail of a feather on a seagull’s wing, or a wave’s pattern, is enough to make me want to start creating.

I even got a few ideas for a new ballet performance inspired by these lovely creatures, a bit of whimsical seaside fantasy if you will! And yes, you can expect a full write-up and probably a video performance of 'Seabirds' some time this month, my darlings, so make sure you're subscribed to my blog to keep up to date.

Finding beauty in everyday life

Of course, the ‘Sea & Sun’ tutu wasn’t my only wardrobe essential for this trip! I’ve brought along my favourite pink coat (of course) and some adorable matching ballet shoes in a creamy pale pink to match those seashells I added to the tutu! A sprinkle of sequins - my favourite little touch - completes the outfit. I mean, how can you go wrong? My pink-tinted world, my style, and all things beautiful - there you have it!

I'll be posting more about the trip soon - from exploring the coastal path and a bit more about the nature reserve (including a few encounters with wildlife!) to indulging in some of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. The perfect fuel to keep up with all my ballerina-esque activities, you know.

It’s all part of spreading the pink tutu love, inspiring everyone to find their own inner beauty, be a little whimsical and try a little bit of ballet – and if it takes visiting Hartlepool, that’s ok with me, though a trip to Derbyshire would always be a nice treat. You’ve just gotta keep those ballerina legs going, whether it’s on stage, in a park, on a train, or on the breezy seaside, don't you agree?

Now, don’t forget to drop me a line and let me know what your favourite colour is, which part of the world you’d love to explore next and how I can inspire you to join the ‘pink tutu’ revolution - I really want to see the world wearing a tutu. I know, a bold vision, but who am I to stop at ordinary!

Till next time my darlings!

XOXO

Emma
