Sutton in Ashfield: A Cyan Dream 🩰✨

Oh, hello darlings! 💋 Emma here, reporting live from the charming town of Sutton in Ashfield. It's a beautiful day, sunshine beaming down like a spotlight on my cyan tutu! Speaking of which, this glorious garment deserves its own standing ovation!

This particular tutu is a new arrival in my wardrobe. I found it tucked away in a little vintage shop called "The Dancing Hare". Can you believe the name?! It practically shouted at me, "Emma, take me home!". I couldn't resist! The color is like a summer sky - just divine!

Now, I know what you're thinking, "Emma, cyan? What a surprise!" Well, while I do have a weakness for a good pink tutu, it's not like I can wear a pink tutu to every single place, right? Plus, wouldn't it be terribly boring if I just stuck to one colour? There's a whole world of beautiful shades waiting to be explored, like a delicious, fluffy meringue rainbow just begging to be tasted! 🍭

The train journey here was heavenly, too. A vintage carriage with plush velvet seats and big, panoramic windows. I felt like a ballerina from another era, floating on air. That, my darlings, is what you get with travelling by train. No cramped car journeys or stressful journeys on the motorway for me! I just adore the serenity of a gentle chug and the swaying rhythm of the carriage. I think even a hummingbird would find it calming!

Now, I don't mean to neglect my faithful steed, 'Pinkalicious' - my faithful Shetland pony. He just adores exploring the countryside, and, while I prefer him for long countryside walks, trains are perfect for journeys that take me into the hustle and bustle of different towns. I can’t deny the beauty of getting fresh air and exploring fields but, let's face it, when it comes to sightseeing in style, trains are definitely a front-row seat to all that is beautiful and glamorous!

So, why am I here in Sutton in Ashfield? You know, it wouldn’t be a proper ballet adventure without a performance at the local theatre, the 'Grand Victorian' . I've been following this charming theater on their social media pages, and when they announced they'd be hosting a show of "The Nutcracker" I jumped at the chance! They are a breath of fresh air and a celebration of the Victorian era and the beautiful legacy that brings to our beloved performing arts. The Grand Victorian itself has this whimsical vibe, like a whimsical gingerbread house full of magical possibilities. I can’t wait to see how their rendition of "The Nutcracker" translates into their intimate stage setting! I just know I’m going to be whisked away to the enchanting winter world of the Nutcracker and the Sugar Plum Fairy, especially after the day I have had. Oh, what fun I shall have!

Fashion Inspiration: A Touch of Cyan

And to celebrate this delightful day, I've put together a little outfit inspiration:

1. Cyan Tutu with a Hint of Whimsy:

  • My cyan tutu is the centrepiece.

    • A fluffy white shrug because you never know when you might need a little extra warmth, and to give the look a soft touch.
    • A tiny pink purse, with a charming pastel flower detail, just to inject that iconic pink spark into this all-cyan ensemble!

    2. A Pink Dream (with a Dash of Cyan)

    • A vibrant pink t-shirt, for a slightly less theatrical, more laid-back vibe.
  • I've tucked this in a pair of classic black leggings, for a comfortable, but elegant feel. I want to feel as if I could jump and leap with grace and freedom - very ballet chic!
  • I'm throwing in my favourite pair of comfy, ballet pumps - they come with a beautiful silk bow in the most exquisite shade of cyan to perfectly coordinate with my fabulous tutu. I'm keeping it chic, but relaxed and ready to take on whatever this wonderful town has in store.

The Heart of Derbyshire

Speaking of lovely, my darling friends, this part of Derbyshire holds a special place in my heart. The landscape here is breathtaking, a kaleidoscope of vibrant greens, blues, and golds, stretching out to meet the horizon. It's no wonder I feel such a strong connection to nature, and even our little Pinkalicious loves it here. The air is so fresh and clean - perfect for a day spent breathing in the scenery.

Just before arriving at the train station, I had a chance encounter with a beautiful robin perched on a branch of a blossom-covered apple tree. We simply had to stare at each other for a while! I could see so much personality in his little, black beady eyes! I love the tiny, cheerful birds here, they add such an element of joyful, untamed elegance to the landscape. So, naturally, I took my little phone out, snapping a quick shot to add to my growing collection of bird portraits.

After all, every experience can be a mini photoshoot, my darling friends! Whether it’s my gorgeous cyann tutu, a perfect robin perched on a branch or even a magnificent landscape. Just look around, observe your surroundings. Each picture I take is more than just a picture - It’s a celebration of life. Each snapshot captures the beauty around me, and hopefully inspires you to find the beauty in the world around you, and of course to appreciate the graceful world of ballet!

It wouldn't be a true "Pink Tutu" blog without encouraging everyone to try a little ballet.

The Grand Victorian is the perfect place to enjoy live entertainment, including our favourite ballerina shows and, why not, why don't you consider joining a ballet class here or anywhere in the country! You might just discover a talent, passion and confidence within you that you didn’t know you had. The movement is so liberating! I think we should all wear tutus, you can’t tell me otherwise! 💖

And so, my darlings, I leave you with a simple message: Go explore. Embrace the beauty of the world around you. Embrace your individuality! Always remember, you can dance in a tutu wherever you go, however you wish, whatever style you choose. After all, that is the most wonderful thing about our ballet-filled world, don’t you agree? It's a world where anyone can take the stage, express themselves, and shine in a fabulous, fabulous, pink tutu - or, like me, in a gorgeous, vibrant cyan. It’s your stage. Own it!

See you next time, my loves. And until then, twirl your worries away!

Emma ✨💖💋
