Harrow! Tutu Adventures and a Dash of Food!

#5191

Hello my darling tutu-loving friends! It's Emma here, and today I'm taking you on a fabulous trip to Harrow! I've had such a fun weekend and it was completely themed around the best things in life – tutus and food!

It's so good to be back blogging, and this is the perfect time to talk about something that has me positively dancing with joy – my very own pink tutu with a food theme! (Cue the trumpets!) I got the inspiration at a beautiful farmers' market in Bakewell, which is the most picturesque little town in Derbyshire. It was so bustling, with the most delicious smells wafting through the air and just brimming with gorgeous colourful fruit and vegetables.

But, I'm digressing! Let me get back to the real reason you are reading this – my new food tutu!

This exquisite creation was whipped up by my amazing dressmaker, Mrs. Peabody – I absolutely love that woman – and she took my love of food and translated it into something spectacular. I mean, it is a tutu, and what could be more magnificent than a ballerina with an overflowing basket of cherries, plums, juicy oranges, a delicious baguette, and a selection of delicious cheese perched right on her pretty skirt?! It's a tutu fit for a queen!

To say I'm absolutely chuffed with my new tutu is an understatement. My latest favourite outfit has me swirling with the most delicate flamboyance every time I twirl – it is truly the best feeling.

My trip to Harrow was part of the journey to see this masterpiece make its first public appearance! I'm not gonna lie, Harrow's pretty much straight off the railway line, but what I like about that is there is nothing stopping you from jumping on a train to get there - I love taking the train; it just gives me time to admire the English countryside and catch up on the news - even though the journey might be a bit bumpy - but it's a lovely way to start a trip and gives you some space to be imaginative, to write in my travel diary or to read one of the millions of books I have collected! The world just flashes by the window as I imagine myself swirling around with the colours that dance through my imagination!

But back to Harrow! It's actually full of some gorgeous and interesting sights!

I first went to the John Lyon's School – now a prestigious academy with a rich history – and for years and years this has had one of the largest collection of buildings of that period that are still used for school, in the whole of the country. This grand old school actually goes back to the 16th century and I loved exploring it’s nooks and crannies and the classrooms and, of course, its very pretty gardens. My mind was swimming with ideas about which of the rooms could be my personal ballet studio if I ever owned the school – a little whimsical perhaps, but wouldn't that be the perfect combination - a tutu and a beautiful, old school!

From here, I hopped on another one of my favourite transport systems - a horse-drawn carriage. Just being drawn along in a beautiful old horse carriage and passing all the quaint houses was such a pleasure! It brought to mind some of the really beautiful stately homes you might see in England. It just added another dimension to my visit and gave me another visual feast - so many exciting possibilities for my tutu’s future – like, can you imagine being drawn along in a horse-drawn carriage while swirling and waving to the crowds?

Talking of stately homes, the grand old manor of Harrow School, the world-famous independent school with so many pupils who have achieved success, was next on my agenda! It was quite an imposing and impressive structure. Its great hall alone had to be seen to be believed and as for its extensive grounds, they were just breathtaking. I actually had a lovely afternoon there - it felt a little like I was being transported into a story and had some truly wonderful conversations with the students about the most popular sports - and cricket of course, but also rugby - so, so many tales I collected in the gardens of Harrow and many exciting memories.

Harrow had been completely new territory for me. It was an entirely unexpected treasure. To tell you the truth, I didn’t know what to expect! But my friend's recommendation to visit this beautiful little corner of London was spot on - the scenery and the air were invigorating – and as you probably know I love nature - but even for a nature-lover, it’s important to add a little bit of glamour to life and let me tell you Harrow had glamour in bucket loads, especially because of my tutu - the pièce de résistance.

Just one last thing to say before I go... I just had to make Harrow my food-tutu outing, and because I’d made so many new friends along the way – and well, who doesn't love good company and a wonderful meal together? - so we all piled into a wonderful restaurant and had the most amazing meal.

And what better way to sign off than with a picture of myself – with the best friends ever – enjoying a delicious dinner – because there’s something really very magical about sharing a delicious meal together while dressed in your most dazzling tutu and you have to admit this little pink gem is quite simply stunning and so very special - that’s the thing about a pink tutu - they really do bring the whole world together!

Well, I hope you've enjoyed today's tutu travelogue - but as you know, the tutu trail is an ongoing adventure. I promise to bring you even more amazing tutu-filled journeys - it's really quite hard to keep my ideas bottled up - but in the meantime - don’t forget - all my loves are wearing a pink tutu!

Until next time… happy dancing!

xx Emma
