Oxford, Oxford, How I Love You (Post #5190)

Hey darlings!

Emma here, writing to you from the beautiful city of Oxford, and let me tell you, I'm absolutely smitten! Today was filled with so much pink loveliness, and yes, you guessed it - a fabulous feather tutu was definitely part of the equation. πŸ˜„

So, picture this: the early morning sun, streaming through my bedroom window, making my blush-pink bedsheets positively glow. I knew it was going to be a day for pink perfection. I slipped on a delicate silk camisole in a shade called 'Pink Lemonade' (seriously, what a dreamy name!), then added my signature touch - my new feather tutu. This one's a showstopper - think vibrant, crimson feathers, swaying gently with every movement, a little touch of cheeky sass that's totally me. πŸ’–

My journey to Oxford, of course, was just as magical. It wouldn't be a proper Emma escapade without some good old-fashioned railway glamour. I boarded a vintage train carriage, smelling of polished wood and jasmine perfume, the carriage a riot of gingham and lace. It felt like stepping back into a Jane Austen novel, just missing Mr. Darcy, you know? πŸ˜‚

The landscape whipping past the windows was breathtaking - lush green fields dotted with quaint little villages and sleepy sheep, like an idyllic English postcard come to life. And the weather? Oh, it was the perfect balmy autumn day, not too cold, not too hot, perfect for strutting around in a feather tutu and a wide, whimsical smile. 😁

Upon arriving in Oxford, I was immediately taken by the enchanting blend of ancient and modern. Stately towers and cobblestone streets juxtaposed with charming cafes and bustling markets - I practically skipped the whole way through the centre, feeling like I was in a fairy tale! πŸ§šβ€β™€οΈ

Now, no trip to Oxford is complete without a visit to the Oxford Playhouse. So, of course, I spent a delightful evening catching a ballet performance that left me breathless. It was a stunning adaptation of "Giselle," and seeing those graceful ballerinas in their exquisite tutus, swirling through the air like ethereal creatures, just reminded me why I fell in love with ballet all those years ago. I’ll admit it - there was even a tiny tear in my eye! πŸ₯°

The most wonderful part of it all was feeling a connection with all those other souls who had come to be enchanted by the performance. I'm sure you know that feeling, darlings, the kind of joy that runs through you like a gentle current when you share something beautiful with other people. It made my heart sing, and I was even lucky enough to meet a young girl who was mesmerised by my feather tutu. I showed her the feathers and gave her a big smile - the look on her face, the pure wonder in her eyes, was enough to melt my heart. πŸ’–

Speaking of hearts melting, a little secret I like to share is that Oxford is home to a sanctuary for hedgehogs. πŸ¦” As a girl from Derbyshire, you know I've always had a soft spot for these prickly little cuties. And honestly, seeing those adorable, spiky creatures in their natural habitat, all cuddled up for a nap, was so much fun. Just watching their tiny noses twitching was enough to bring a smile to my face - the ultimate antidote to a long day! It made me remember that it’s the simple things, those little moments of connection, that bring us true happiness. πŸ₯°

Before I forget, I absolutely had to stop by a lovely little flower shop called 'The Flower Nook' - oh, darling, you just have to visit if you ever find yourself in Oxford. The aroma alone is pure magic - it's a veritable explosion of colours, textures, and scents. I picked out a bouquet of vibrant pink peonies, the epitome of romanticism, a little touch of spring beauty to bring a bit of Oxford magic home to my Derbyshire dwelling. 🌺

As the day began to wind down, and the city's iconic spires bathed in the golden hues of sunset, I reflected on the day's journey. Oxford, you stole my heart - you’re truly a haven for both the soul and the senses.

From exploring ancient libraries to losing myself in the dreamy world of ballet, from catching glimpses of nature's wonders to admiring breathtaking artistry, this city holds so much beauty and inspiration. It reminds me that there's always something new to discover, a fresh perspective to embrace, and new joys to find.

So, darlings, I encourage you to step outside your comfort zone, grab a friend or a loved one, and let the magic of travel ignite your soul. Who knows what treasures you'll discover!

Until next time, my dears, keep twirling and embracing the world in all its loveliness! πŸ’–

Yours always,

Emma
