Hitchin Highlights: Pink Tutu Edition! 💖🩰

Post Number: 5362

Hey lovelies! It's Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-clad ballet enthusiast, reporting live from the charming town of Hitchin. It's been a whirlwind few days, full of twirls, treats, and all the pink you could possibly dream of!

Before I get into the details of my adventure, I want to remind everyone: don't be afraid to unleash your inner ballerina! Whether it's strutting around in a tutu or trying out a ballet class, embrace your inner grace and elegance. Remember, ballet is for everyone, no matter your age or experience!

Now, let's get back to my Hitchin escapades!

I decided to make the journey from Derbyshire by train. I mean, who needs boring car journeys when you can sip on Earl Grey, gaze out the window at the rolling countryside, and people-watch in all my tutu glory? I must say, a bright pink tutu always makes for a delightful conversation starter on a train journey. I chatted with a lovely lady who'd always dreamed of becoming a dancer and a young boy who wanted to know what kind of unicorn my tutu would turn into if it was a magical outfit! (Think sparkly wings and a flowing pink mane – very elegant, of course!).

Once I arrived in Hitchin, I headed straight for the most adorable café I'd ever seen. The windows were decked with lace curtains and the aroma of freshly baked pastries wafted through the air. Inside, it was a haven of vintage furniture, whimsical teacups, and a pink flamingo wallpaper (talk about my vibe!). I treated myself to a delicious slice of Victoria sponge and a cup of tea. After all, a girl needs sustenance before she twirls the day away!

After lunch, I found myself at a beautiful old manor house that has been converted into a stunning ballet school. The rooms were filled with mirrored walls, gleaming barres, and a symphony of soft music echoing from the studios. You could feel the energy pulsating in the air!

They were holding a ballet workshop that afternoon and, you know me, I couldn't resist a bit of practice! I met some incredible fellow dancers from all walks of life – students, retirees, a group of friends on a girls’ day out – everyone embracing their love for the art of movement. It was amazing! The instructor was truly brilliant; she managed to whip us all into shape with gentle guidance and a healthy dose of laughter. I learnt some fabulous new stretches and had the chance to refine my fouetté technique – it was definitely worth the train journey alone!

Spoiler alert: You won't believe who I bumped into! The most lovely horse drawn carriage! We got talking, and turns out it’s a carriage they use for wedding parties and fancy events! I absolutely adored the pair of gorgeous horses. They were as beautiful as they were gentle! I mean, what's a girl to do when she's surrounded by elegance and charm but take a little tour of the town in a horse drawn carriage? They’re offering pink tutu-wearing passengers a 20% discount this month.

We strolled through Hitchin’s quaint, historic streets, marveling at the picturesque buildings and shops, which were charming in their old-world style and overflowing with delicious smells and colorful displays of wares. They had so many sweet little shops - independent booksellers, cafes, boutiques, bakeries… Oh, and I snagged a pair of the most fabulous pink ballet shoes in a little boutique shop – a delightful discovery!

That evening, Hitchin transformed into a theatre wonderland for a fabulous ballet performance at the local theatre. The air buzzed with anticipation and excitement as the lights dimmed, and the orchestra’s warm melody filled the space. It was a breathtaking production – dancers, lit by soft spotlights, performed graceful choreography that transported us all to another world. I almost burst into tears at the pure beauty of it all – ballet truly speaks to my soul! They even had a lovely couple dressed in their finest pink tutu’s in the audience and the ballerina gave them a cheeky wink after a pirouette - a nod to the Pink Tutu community! I felt like a true ballet aficionado among like-minded souls! (You can guess I had to send my usual post-show email to my Pink Tutu club – "You just have to see this show!!", I proclaimed to my hundreds of ballerina buddies!).

This was my perfect day in Hitchin – and my adventures didn’t even end there! Later, I decided to walk off all that glorious performance energy and explore a wildlife sanctuary just outside the town. There was something calming about watching swans gracefully gliding on the lake and deer munching on green grass. The sanctuary’s tranquil beauty mirrored the serenity that ballet always brings me – both offer escapes from the stresses of daily life.

All in all, Hitchin is a magical town brimming with charm and character, and the perfect location for a ballet enthusiast like myself. Who knew this small English town held such delightful treasures!

Until next time, keep twirling, stay fabulous, and never be afraid to rock that pink tutu!

Lots of love,

Emma 💖🩰
