Trowbridge: Tutu-ing Around Town! (Post #5369)

Hello my darlings! 🩰 It’s your favourite pink-loving tutu enthusiast, Emma, back with another post!

This time, I’ve taken my tutu-loving self to the delightful little town of Trowbridge! Now, Trowbridge isn't exactly the first place that pops to mind when you think of "ballet-chic" – unless you've been following my blog, of course, then it's all about the potential. But listen, this little corner of Wiltshire is a hidden gem for any tutu-enthusiast!

And before I start on all the exciting adventures I've had in this beautiful town, let’s chat about the big news. Have you seen the gorgeous new German tutu I managed to snag?! I stumbled upon it in a little antique shop in the heart of London, tucked away like a tiny little princess hiding behind the cobwebs. This delicate confection is a light lavender-pink, the colour of the first blush of spring, and it’s absolutely swoon-worthy! You can’t see it from here (oh, the frustration!), but trust me, it's like a little piece of Parisian chic stepped into a fairytale forest. And best of all, it swishes perfectly with my new rose-gold shoes, you'll have to see it all on my Insta soon! 😉

But enough about the pretty frocks, it's time to get back to the action! This trip to Trowbridge, much like most of my adventures, involved lots of charming little train journeys (I've developed a real fondness for those vintage compartments!) and plenty of daydreaming on the way. I had planned to catch a local performance at The Trowbridge Town Hall, so my tutu was essential, naturally!

However, as the fate would have it, this wasn't your typical ballet production. They've got this absolutely fabulous program at the Town Hall where they showcase a mix of everything – a dash of Shakespeare, a spoonful of musical theater, and, yes, even a touch of ballet. And you know how much I love to combine art forms!

The star of the show was the new production of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night’s Dream". I’d seen the classic story performed before, but the costumes at The Trowbridge Town Hall production – oh my word! The fairies were a dazzling kaleidoscope of hues and shimmer, their costumes a delicate mix of modern and medieval elements. They moved with such elegance and grace, their flitting movements like tiny ballet dancers in the moonlight. And just to remind everyone, those little dancing figures always make me wish I had fairy wings! Imagine the fabulous photos we could take!

I'll admit, I was a little nervous, walking through the doors of the town hall with my big pink tutu, like a beacon of dance enthusiasm. But everyone was absolutely wonderful. You know me, I love making a statement, so I just went with it. And trust me, no one batted an eyelid! In fact, people complimented me on the tutu, asking if I was going to see the performance. We started a lovely conversation about ballet and art. It just goes to show, it’s so important to embrace your passions and spread a little bit of glitter wherever you go! ✨

But the evening wasn't just about the play, though it was incredibly lovely. The next morning, I decided to do a little exploration of the town and take some charming photos.

Firstly, let’s just get this out of the way: Trowbridge has THE cutest little bookshop I have ever seen! I literally went back twice! It was crammed to the rafters with a wonderful mix of new and second-hand books. I even snagged a gorgeous first edition of "The Swan Lake" story, which I know you all will adore. You wouldn’t believe the treasures you find if you dare to explore little, out-of-the-way bookshops!

Then, after a scrumptious lunch of the best Cornish pasties you could imagine – truly delicious – I headed off to the countryside for a spot of wildlife watching. The town’s surroundings were bursting with natural beauty! Picture me, with my fabulous tutu in tow, walking along scenic pathways dotted with wildflowers. Now, I admit, it wasn’t a very practical outfit for navigating through fields of sheep, but honestly, what’s the fun in matching practicality? My inner ballet goddess had to dance among those lovely little lambs. You can find the photos on my Instagram! It was absolutely worth a little muddy boot!

Before leaving, I had to indulge my love for horses, a must for any trip to the English countryside. So I booked a little carriage ride with the most charming gentleman who reminded me of one of the heroes in a Jane Austen novel. We meandered through charming fields and woodland. The sunshine peeking through the trees, creating a lovely light show. The gentle swaying of the carriage and the clickety-clack of the wheels just seemed to perfectly embody that quintessential English countryside charm! And, needless to say, it was the perfect opportunity to show off my fancy new tutu! You have to understand, there is something absolutely magical about the feeling of the wind on your face, the sun warming your skin, and a delicate, swirling tutu moving with the breeze. You just can’t compare that to anything else!

My trip to Trowbridge was everything I'd hoped for. It’s all about embracing the beauty of a small-town vibe and having a delightful mix of adventure and ballet-infused relaxation! Oh, and did I tell you that my next blog post will be about the upcoming dance performance at the Sadler's Wells Theatre? This is exciting news! It's an exciting and diverse lineup, and guess who's getting the VIP treatment! This is going to be a blog you definitely don’t want to miss! I can't wait to share the experience with you all!

In the meantime, keep twirling and make sure you don't forget to sign up for my free pink-tutu workshop! It's just a little something to make the world a more dazzling place.

Until next time, my lovelies! Remember, the world's a stage, and it’s time to make our grand entrance in style! 😉

With lots of love and twirls, Emma xx www.pink-tutu.com
