Wigston Magna: A Pink Tutu Adventure! 🩰💖

Hello my darling Tutu-licious readers!

I hope you're all feeling fabulously pink and full of twirling energy! 💖 It's Emma here, coming to you live from the charming town of Wigston Magna! Yes, that's right - your favourite tutu-toting traveller has swapped Derbyshire hills for Leicestershire charm. And it's been absolutely divine.

I know, I know - you're thinking: Wigston Magna?! You may not know it, but it's brimming with beauty. I mean, have you ever seen a sky as bright and clear as the one over here? I almost forgot the sky had those colours! It's like nature itself is wearing a pink tutu, and trust me, it's a pretty darn stunning sight.

I arrived here by train, of course. I've become a bit of a rail enthusiast - the rhythm of the journey always puts me in the perfect mood for a twirl. There's something truly romantic about it, and it allows me to really soak up the scenery. It was a lovely journey from Derbyshire. The hills just outside of Wigston gave me a taste of what is to come with my little country tour this year, to encourage every one to embrace dance, be bold, and dare to wear pink, a little at least. I want every single one of you to try ballet! If not as your career, than as your fun thing to do, for fitness, for social life or as part of a club!

Anyway, Wigston Magna itself is a proper charmer. It's got the most delightful village centre with old buildings and the cutest little independent shops, including the one that finally managed to tempt me into trying that famous pork pie - a local speciality, apparently. 🐷 (The verdict: it was delish!). It's amazing how food in a small town can make such a big impact, in such a charming way.

But why did I choose Wigston Magna for my tutu travels? Well, it's got everything a budding ballet-lover could ever desire. This quaint town just had to be my next stop!

It all began with a little something called The Royal Ballet in the park! It’s an annual event with professional ballerinas and some fantastic ballet dancers in beautiful tutus. Oh my, what amazing talent, with such effortless twirls! The ballet dancers moved with a graceful and powerful energy that was both mesmerising and inspiring. I love ballet in a big theatre setting - The Royal Albert Hall or London's Covent Garden, but there was something truly magical about seeing such world-class performances under an open sky, with trees and birds providing a natural backdrop. This made me appreciate that we don’t have to be restricted, just put on your tutu, put on your ballet shoes and head outside, for your personal open-air ballet experience.

The dancers’ elegant movements and colourful costumes, they just captivated me. Even in their leotards and leggings during the rehearsals, their energy was infectious! They really got everyone in the mood for a twirl. Their love for dance just shined through! I don’t think there was a single person who wasn’t entranced by their performance. The energy of the ballet resonated throughout the entire park. Everyone had a smile on their faces, and there was a shared feeling of joy that really added to the magic of the event.

After watching the incredible performance, my day took an unexpected twist… (You knew it was coming, right? What would my travel blog be without a bit of spontaneous excitement?!)

While I was admiring the beautifully choreographed routines, I couldn't help but notice a little bunny hopping around in the grass. The sweetest thing - its ears were all perky and it was practically hopping a jig with pure bunny delight! 🐇🐰 The cheeky little fellow caught my eye and I just had to chase him around a bit. I'm not sure he was overly impressed with my ballet-inspired bunny hopping (my apologies, Mr Bunny - still working on my pirouette hops!). He scampered off with a final cheeky wiggle of his nose, but let me tell you, the whole bunny encounter added a special kind of magic to my Wigston Magna experience. I think all the ballet had an impact, even on our local bunnies!

And of course, what would a tutu-themed adventure be without a little bit of retail therapy? Wigston Magna did not disappoint. I found the most adorable little boutique filled with quirky and elegant accessories - a tutu-lovers dream! It was practically bursting with sparkles and colour. There I discovered a dazzling, vibrant pink feather boa, soft enough to grace even the most delicate of swans, and oh, it simply demanded a dance. So, I purchased the beautiful item for my next show - The ballet I’m staging myself! Yes, with all of this travel inspiration and beauty all around, the drive for creativity just won’t stop! And you know what I did - the first thing I did was go back to my Airbnb to rehearse. That’s my problem. If I don’t write it down, rehearse it or perform it, I never seem to get anything done.

My day in Wigston Magna may have been short and sweet, but it was full of tutu-tastic moments that made it oh-so-special! This little Leicestershire gem had so much to offer, I feel incredibly lucky to have visited. This was definitely more than just a quick trip - it was a vibrant and exciting reminder to follow my heart, wear a pink tutu wherever life takes me, and above all, embrace the beauty in every moment. I also encourage you to put on a tutu for a day and make the day your own tutu day, or embrace dance in any way. Be it a ballerina class, dancing to your favourite tune in your home, or dancing around a cafe with friends or family - Just get that tutu on and twirl, like the happy bunny did, but better, if you can. Don't forget to send your Tutu Tales my way!

Until next time,

Lots of Love,

Emma xx
