Aberdeen Adventure! 🩰💖 (Post #5699)

Hello my darling dancers! It's Emma here, reporting live from the glorious city of Aberdeen! The wind is whipping through my hair, but the sun is shining and it’s giving the buildings a lovely golden glow. I'm just about to head to a fabulous ballet show this afternoon, and I couldn't resist whipping up a new outfit!

You know how much I adore a good pink tutu, and today's ensemble is no exception! It’s an absolutely stunning number, imported all the way from Italy – think beautiful tulle, shimmering with delicate pink sequins. It's paired perfectly with my trusty black velvet bolero, which adds a touch of sophistication. And because we all know the importance of a good pair of shoes, I’m wearing my new sparkly pink ballet flats, inspired by the dancing ballerinas on a porcelain music box my Gran used to have. It’s an absolute dream, this outfit, and I feel like I’m ready to take on the world.

Speaking of taking on the world, Aberdeen is absolutely charming. I arrived this morning, fresh from the hustle and bustle of London, and I am completely smitten! I had the most delightful train journey up here. As usual, I managed to secure myself a window seat, where I sat mesmerised watching the English countryside flash by. The gentle rhythm of the train and the gentle hum of the engine was truly relaxing, it was as though I had my very own private performance by the Railway Orchestra. I even had the opportunity to get up and walk around the carriage for a while, and found myself enjoying the graceful, rhythmic swing of my body to the slow and steady sway of the train. It’s funny how everything about train travel seems to reflect the dance - it really is like an ode to balletic movement!

The air up in Aberdeen has such a clean, fresh feel. You know the kind of crisp, refreshing smell of freedom and new beginnings that I crave! Oh, and let’s not forget the beautiful wildlife! The harbour is so lovely, with the boats bobbing in the water and the seagulls squawking away - just delightful. A friendly old sailor showed me a couple of cute grey seals basking in the sun. He told me they’re always around, popping their heads up for a little sunbathe! Such sweet creatures, you really can't beat nature.

And now for the highlight of my trip, my very own Aberdeen ballet experience! It's a brand new production by a local company called The Granite City Ballet, and it's going to be spectacular. The choreography is said to be infused with the dramatic beauty and stormy grandeur of Aberdeen, incorporating a range of local traditions into its story - can't wait to see the costume designs! And just picture it – me, in my lovely pink tutu, enjoying some amazing dance performances in one of the most beautiful cities in Scotland. What could be better?

I know you are all thinking the same thing, "What amazing stories she brings back!" You know my heart melts every time I hear you say those words, and as a good storyteller myself, there’s nothing more satisfying than sharing them.

One thing's for sure - if there’s one thing I truly believe in, it's the magic of dance. Ballet, in all its forms, is an art form that has the power to touch us in the most profound ways. And you know me, I'm always on a mission to get everyone on the dance floor – so to speak! I firmly believe everyone deserves to experience the joy of dancing. The next time you have a chance to get on stage, I encourage you to just let go and indulge in some expressive, heart-felt dance!

In fact, if you’re anywhere near Aberdeen and feeling brave enough, come and join me at the theatre for tonight's show. You might just catch me in my beautiful Italian tutu and give me the biggest, most joyous wave. You never know, you might just get inspired to take on the wonderful world of dance and join me on this fabulous adventure.

Keep on twirling, my darlings, and always remember that your very own dance journey begins with that very first step – whether it be on stage, in a classroom, or at your favourite dance party. Until next time!

Emma xxx
