Kendal Calling: A Purple Tutu Adventure (Post #6162)

Hello my darlings! It’s your favourite tutu-loving, pink-obsessed ballet bunny, Emma, back with another post. I'm just hopping off the train from a magical journey to the Lake District, where I explored the quaint town of Kendal, the beating heart of Cumbria, with a whimsical touch of purple.

This little adventure wasn't your typical "Emma-in-a-pink-tutu" affair, no. This time, I decided to embrace a splash of lavender magic. A beautiful lilac tutu, it was. Such a pretty, delicate colour that danced in the breeze like the gentle whispers of the Lakeland fells. It matched the charmingly old-fashioned atmosphere of Kendal perfectly, nestled amongst the cobblestone streets and quaint shops.

Of course, before I set off, I couldn't leave my pink ballet bag behind. I stuffed it full of essentials - you know, just in case I had the urge for an impromptu pirouette on the platform! I love catching trains, you know. Something about the clickety-clack of the wheels on the tracks gets my inner dancer bubbling. And the scenery passing by the window always offers inspiration, a symphony of colours and shapes for a ballet dancer's mind to absorb.

The moment I stepped into Kendal, a sense of quiet serenity washed over me. It was like stepping into a beautifully painted postcard, where the bustling city life fades away, replaced by rolling hills and serene lakes reflecting the bright sunshine. It was just begging for a ballet to unfold right in the heart of this gorgeous landscape. I can just picture the choreography – leaps echoing across the fells, elegant bourrees around the calm waters, a graceful pas de deux amongst the ancient stone walls. Oh, to be a part of it all!

The town itself is a treat for the senses, with its vibrant markets brimming with local produce and artisanal crafts. The air was alive with the sweet scent of fresh baked goods, the cheerful banter of vendors, and the happy hum of tourists enjoying their day.

Being a dancer, it's impossible for me to ignore the call of a stage, so I couldn't leave without venturing into Kendal’s historical theatre, The Brewery Arts Centre. Such a charming venue with a history steeped in the arts, just waiting for another ballet to grace its stage. Oh, to perform on this intimate stage, surrounded by the friendly faces of a captivated audience. It makes me yearn for a chance to grace those wooden planks with my very own dancing spirit!

It was such a privilege to explore Kendal, where the quaint, traditional charm intertwined with the echoes of art and history. It truly felt like stepping back in time, a moment for me to simply relax, reflect, and embrace the quiet magic that the Lake District holds. And who knows, maybe next time I'll bring my pink tutu – although a new green one with emerald sparkles is tempting my heart!

Speaking of emerald sparkles, did I tell you about my adventure on horseback in the fells? Now that was a real highlight of my Kendal visit. It was like a scene straight out of a storybook - the wind whispering through my hair, the warm sun on my skin, and the hooves beating a rhythmical beat as we ventured across the lush meadows and rolling hills.

Oh, what I wouldn't give to live life in this slower pace, embracing the beauty of nature, the peacefulness of the countryside, and the simplicity of joy. It’s an incredible escape from my usual Derbyshire life and a chance to explore the raw beauty that exists just a train journey away.

But you know what? The magic of ballet doesn't stop at the studio or on the stage. It's all around us, if only we look. It’s in the way the wildflowers sway in the breeze, in the way the sun dips below the horizon painting the sky with breathtaking hues, and in the way we dance through life, embracing every experience with a playful spirit.

That's why, darling, my aim in life remains unchanged - to inspire you to put on a pink tutu, even if just for a moment, and twirl your cares away!

As the last rays of the day kissed the Lake District landscape goodbye, I realised, my love for tutus, my passion for pink, and my obsession with ballet have only intensified. There’s something truly magical about bringing joy to everyday life, a sprinkle of fairy dust in every step, every pose, every twirl.

And I can't wait to see where the next adventure takes me!

Until next time, keep those tutus twirling,

Your pink-loving ballet bunny, Emma
