Shenley Brook End: Tutu Travels & a Touch of Purple

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back from another whirlwind adventure, and oh my, this time it was a real peach! Now, normally I'm all about the pink, but this trip took a turn for the purple - and you know me, I'm always up for a bit of colour in my life!

My latest jaunt took me to the quaint village of Shenley Brook End, nestled in the heart of Buckinghamshire. A charming little place with cobbled streets, flower-filled gardens, and that quintessentially British village feel. You could practically hear the birdsong echoing off the old stone walls!

But the real reason I headed to Shenley Brook End was a little secret I was harbouring – a hidden gem tucked away in this peaceful village, a dance studio called 'Swirling Stars.' Now, my darlings, this wasn't just any dance studio – it was the haven of the incredible 'Dancers of Dreams' troupe. This group, a veritable kaleidoscope of talent and grace, was performing a modern ballet inspired by…you guessed it, wildflowers. It's like they had dipped their toes in the local flora and poured that very essence into their movement, creating an utterly captivating show.

Naturally, I couldn't resist making my own tribute to the occasion with my trusty tutu! Now, you all know I'm a devoted pink girl, but when I spied a beautiful purple tulle number tucked away in my wardrobe, it was simply irresistible! It perfectly mirrored the delicate purple hues of the wildflowers that were the inspiration for the show. And just like those blooms, I felt absolutely radiant!

I had the absolute joy of meeting some of the dancers from the troupe afterwards, a wonderfully spirited bunch who had me absolutely hooked with their passion for dance and their incredible stories of dedication. One, a truly remarkable lady named Eleanor, had even travelled all the way from the West Country to pursue her dreams, swapping the idyllic countryside for the city lights of London just to be a part of this dynamic troupe. It truly inspired me to chase my dreams, big or small!

Before I set off back to Derbyshire, I couldn’t resist venturing into the local countryside. Now, I don't just love ballet – I have a soft spot for all things nature too! The fields were alive with colour - bluebells, daisies, poppies - an artist's palette splashed across the landscape. It felt like stepping into a Monet painting.

As I meandered through the lanes, I was lucky enough to encounter a family of hares, leaping through the fields. They were the most graceful creatures I've ever seen! It almost felt like a scene out of a ballet. Perhaps a new choreography featuring graceful hares could be a new dance I could learn. Hmmm, something to ponder.

My journey back to Derbyshire was, of course, on the train. Now, let me tell you, there is no better way to travel! Watching the countryside fly by – from rolling green hills to bustling town squares – is such a wonderful way to lose yourself in the moment. And with a cup of Earl Grey and a good book (one featuring a graceful ballet dancer, of course!), it’s pure bliss.

This trip was not only a beautiful dance experience, but a celebration of all things good in life! And it really highlighted why I always encourage everyone to don a tutu, embrace a touch of pink in their lives, and most importantly, be open to adventures and discoveries, be they big or small. Because who knows what treasures await just around the corner!

Until next time, darlings, stay graceful and glamorous!

Love, Emma
