Liverpool Calling: Pink Tutus and European Chic (Post #6200)

Hey loves! It's Emma, back from a whirlwind adventure in the vibrant city of Liverpool. It's funny, every time I visit a new place I'm convinced it'll become my new favourite, but somehow, they all manage to steal my heart a little bit! Liverpool was no exception. I love the energy, the history, the friendly people – and of course, the incredible ballet scene!

This trip was extra special because I got to experience Liverpool through the lens of a "European Chic" tutu. You know how much I adore my tutus – they're practically an extension of myself! – but I'd never experimented with a more "fashion forward" design before. It was an absolute dream. Picture a soft, flowing skirt in a gorgeous shade of blush pink (my ultimate fave, obviously!), adorned with intricate, delicate details. Think hand-stitched lace, sparkly embellishments and a touch of delicate netting – pure magic, right?

Before setting off, I treated myself to a new pink leather satchel – perfect for carrying all my tutu essentials! Let's be real, every ballerina needs her toolkit – a touch-up mirror, emergency bobby pins (never underestimate the power of a rogue hair!), a pair of ballet slippers (you never know!), and, of course, a miniature bottle of pink-scented perfume to keep my inner ballerina blooming.

Tutu Talk: It’s actually funny how people react to me wearing my tutu around. Sometimes, you get the “I've-got-no-idea-what-to-do-with-myself” glances, sometimes the “wow-that’s-actually-amazing-and-quite-cool” reaction, and other times
the inevitable, slightly confused but endearing “Isn't it a bit hot?” (It’s surprisingly comfy, promise!). But regardless, wearing a tutu just makes me feel so empowered, joyful and absolutely radiant! I truly believe every woman should experience this feeling!

The Train Journey

Travelling to Liverpool by train is my absolute favourite way to get around. There's something about the rhythmic clatter of the tracks and the landscape whizzing past that makes me feel so alive! And it also allows me to embrace my love for a good old-fashioned picnic. (Strawberry and cream tea, naturally! What’s a pink-tutu-loving ballerina to do?!).

As I journeyed, I gazed out the window at the rolling green fields and the charming towns dotting the English countryside. This beautiful scenery sparked a burst of creativity in me. My inner ballerina whispered sweet nothings to me about future blog posts, upcoming ballet classes, and the possibility of bringing a pink tutu-themed picnic to life in a Derbyshire meadow. What do you think, loves?

Stepping Into The City of Culture

Once I arrived in Liverpool, the buzz of the city immediately engulfed me. It’s the kind of energy that makes your heart skip a beat! I just had to try a new cafĂ© with pastel pink walls and flower-covered tables that I had spotted in my guidebook – definitely adding that to the list of must-try locations. It's my version of a ballerina-approved afternoon tea. It’s a good job I brought a massive bag for all these treats! You’ve got to try their raspberry and pistachio latte – oh, the dreams they evoke.

Exploring the Streets and Theatres

Next on the agenda was exploring Liverpool’s artistic heart. The city truly embodies a passionate spirit, pulsating with creativity! It's a vibrant tapestry woven from grand historic buildings, modern art galleries and the constant thrum of music. I love this mix! It's like a feast for the senses.

But I wouldn’t be true to myself if I didn’t seek out a little ballet inspiration. The Liverpool Philharmonic Hall was calling to me – its grand architecture, reminiscent of a ballet studio, made my tutu-wearing heart sing. The theatre's opulent foyer seemed to beckon me inside. I closed my eyes, and for a moment, I felt transported back to a grand Victorian era ball, surrounded by graceful ladies and elegant gentlemen all clad in exquisite gowns and well-tailored suits. It's a little piece of fantasy nestled in the heart of a real-life city.

Dancing with the Stars

As I stepped into the grand hall, the feeling of awe washed over me. A huge curtain decorated with sparkling jewels shimmered down to the floor like a magical veil. The acoustics seemed to hum with an ethereal beauty that sent shivers down my spine. Could this be the stage where so many talented ballet dancers had poured their souls into their performances? I’m a sucker for a classic performance space!

Of course, the ballet world in Liverpool isn’t all about the grand old theatres and historic performances. A little bit of “ballet street” added a different kind of buzz. One of my favourite discoveries was a little pop-up performance by a troupe of contemporary dancers – they were literally performing on the street in front of a cafe! They used their entire bodies as a form of expression. The grace of their movements intertwined with their raw, powerful energy made for a mesmerising performance that felt truly innovative. These guys brought the dance to the people, and the people, in turn, danced with them! It’s an example of how the magic of ballet doesn’t always happen on a stage!

An Ode to All Things Pink and Tutu-tastic!

This trip was so much more than just exploring a new city. It was an opportunity to embrace my inner ballerina in all her glory. You see, it’s the everyday little things – like the blush of the sunrise as I leave the hotel, the delicate pink floral arrangements at a cafe I discovered, the playful pink details adorning a quirky vintage shop – that remind me of the beauty and magic of life. It’s the things that make me twirl! It’s this attitude, this outlook, that I want to share with the world, through pink tutus, ballet performances and inspiring blog posts. I want everyone to find their own spark of joy and let it shine brighter than the sun!

As my journey in Liverpool draws to a close, I know that it won’t be my last time visiting this charming city. It’s definitely a place I’d love to come back to and see how it continues to blossom and surprise.

Until next time, keep spreading that pink tutu love! Remember, we can all dance if we let ourselves – no matter our age, shape or size! And if you’re feeling a little shy, remember what the old saying goes: "If you want something, don't let the fear of the price keep you from paying it." (A cheeky ballet pun for you – I’m so proud of myself!).

Lots of love, Emma xo
