Slough Sparkle: Tutu-ing About Town (Post #6236)

Helloooo lovelies! It's your favourite Derbyshire darling, Emma, here, ready to pink up your Tuesday with tales of tutus, trains and, yes, even a bit of Slough sparkle!

Right now, I’m in a hotel room overlooking a rather grey Slough. It’s not the most glamorous of destinations, I admit, but hey, even the most mundane places can be tutu-fied! Plus, I’m about to make the most of the location for a fabulous photoshoot – more on that later!

Before we get to the glitter, let's chat about my journey. I started the day back home in Derbyshire, where I’d already managed a balletic workout. I absolutely love how dance keeps me so strong and fit - it's more fun than hitting the gym, any day!

To make things even more exciting, I was riding to the station on my trusty horse, Blossom, instead of taking the car. Yes, I said horse! My parents think I'm a little mad (sometimes I do too!), but I’m really happy about bringing horses into my life - what better way to get your heart rate up in the mornings? Of course, my trusty pink riding helmet (a gift from my Mum – the best!), meant I could even wear my tutu. Safety first, girls!

The train ride was magical. It was packed with interesting people, from a very stylish granny with a bright orange scarf to a businessman doing yoga in the corridor ( I was tempted to join him!), and a couple dressed in vintage 1950s gear. It felt so vibrant and inspiring. It always makes me happy to see people expressing themselves.

The only slightly disappointing thing was the train itself wasn't exactly Tutu-themed. It lacked that extra dash of femininity. I’m secretly hoping to inspire someone with enough influence to transform the rail system into a magical journey. Imagine it! Pretty carriage interiors, ballets screening on board, pink snacks and everyone rocking a tutu! How gorgeous would that be?

Arriving at Slough was like stepping into a different world. No, not that "Alice in Wonderland" different. Just a bit less glamorous! I mean, no disrespect to the fine people of Slough, I’m sure they're lovely. But there was a sense of "what's going to happen next?" in the air - in a good way! It made my heart pounding with anticipation.

The shoot, though, was simply spectacular! A local company called "Tutu-Up" had contacted me about featuring my love of tutus in a fashion magazine shoot! I jumped at the chance - what girl wouldn't, right?

And so, with a gorgeous black tutu shimmering around me I spent the afternoon swirling in a studio, smiling for the camera, and laughing with the talented crew. It was one of those days that make you believe that anything is possible.

And yes, even Slough became my canvas to share my passion for all things pink and twirly. The photographer captured a side of me I hadn't explored before: Slough didn't quite know what hit it, but I can just picture those black and white magazine shots - bold, elegant, with just a touch of that playful tutu-infused energy I'm known for.

Before leaving Slough, I made it a point to check out a little cafe I had spotted near the station called "The Pink Pea" and it turned out to be the perfect little find! They had all kinds of amazing pastel pink smoothies and even pink macarons which I couldn’t resist! And to top it off, they had a huge, bright pink wall where I couldn’t help but capture a few selfies – perfect to share on Instagram! It’s always about spreading the tutu-love, don’t you agree?

I even spotted a pair of ballet shoes outside the shop (don’t know who left them there but they were in pretty good shape – guess that’s a sign!) It was such a lovely little touch to my otherwise very ordinary day.

Now, back in my hotel room, as I enjoy a hot pink glass of fruit juice and scroll through Instagram I’m reflecting on this fabulous journey. I may be a small-town Derbyshire girl, but Slough has brought out the big city girl in me. I hope I’ve brought a bit of my tutu-tastic sparkle to its streets, even if just for a day.

After all, isn’t that what life’s all about? Taking a chance, dressing boldly, and letting your inner ballerina shine through?

Until next time, my lovelies! Don't forget, you can always follow my journey on www.pink-tutu.com, and you can find me on Instagram at @pinktutu_emma

Stay pink and twirly!

Emma xx
