Carlisle Calling: Tutu Adventures and Pink-tastic Charm!

Post Number: 6275

Hello my lovelies! Emma here, fresh from a whirlwind trip to Carlisle, and let me tell you, it was a truly magical experience. You see, it’s not just about the beautiful tutus, though they certainly play a huge part! It’s about the whole feeling, the journey, the people you meet. This week was about experiencing a different side of England, the windswept beauty of the Lake District and the enchanting charm of Carlisle.

This is actually my second visit to Carlisle. You might remember me telling you about my first trip here back in 2010 - a wild weekend filled with historical sights, cobblestone streets and the most delightful tea shop I’ve ever been to (it had a full teapot display). Well, this time, the adventure began with a grand old train journey, the clatter and rumble of the tracks transporting me to the heart of Cumbria. The countryside flew by in a flurry of rolling hills, grazing sheep, and a million shades of green.

I knew exactly where I was going to go. Every time I go to a new city, I search for ballet studios to pop in and check out their classes. That’s me, forever a ballet bunny at heart. So I found the fabulous 'Dance Mania Studios', located in a lovely little courtyard with climbing vines and cheerful colours, and joined in a fun, upbeat beginner’s class. Now, even with my years of experience, there’s always something new to learn in ballet. These local classes are often inspiring and it was so heart-warming to see adults and children of all ages embracing the graceful magic of dance. I love it!

My Tutu Delights

As a pink-loving, tutu-loving ballet bunny, what would be better than my trusty old trusty ‘Sugarplum Fairytale’ tutu for this trip? This vintage piece, with its delicate frills and cascading ribbons of pastel pink, truly does add an air of fantasy and whimsy wherever I go! This week, my tutu even got to join in a delightful picnic by the river, complete with strawberries, scones, and of course, a perfect cuppa. It truly was a day straight out of a storybook, just what I needed after a day of dancing.

I am absolutely devoted to my tutus, and always have to make sure I have enough space for them in my luggage. Yes, I can travel quite light (only bringing the absolute essentials!) but if that means less space for my tutus, well, let’s just say that’s a big no-no. You've gotta prioritize!

A Whimsical World

This time, my adventures took me to the breathtaking Lake District. I don't think I could choose a more magical backdrop for my pink tutu than a world of tranquil lakes, soaring mountains, and quaint stone villages. You can't come here without taking a horse ride. Imagine it: the fresh mountain air, the sun on your face, the soft hooves of your mount on the rocky ground... It was glorious. There was this magnificent stallion named Zephyr. He wasn't afraid of the colourful explosion of my tutu! In fact, I'd say he secretly loved it. 😉 We galloped through wildflower fields and along craggy paths. I could feel a freedom I don’t usually get.

Fairy Tales Come True

You all know my obsession with fairy tales and, of course, a trip to Carlisle couldn’t possibly be complete without exploring some magical castles. I felt a thrill running through my veins walking the ancient battlements of Carlisle Castle, just imagining all the stories those stones could tell. I took photos, obviously - I want to remember all the memories. And the thing about castles, and historical places in general, is that they really allow your imagination to soar. I found myself picturing beautiful princesses twirling in ball gowns (and of course, rocking pink tutus!)

Now, to the delightful, hidden treasures of the city - quaint little cafes and tea rooms with cakes to die for. They all add to this air of sweetness and wonder, and make me want to create my own story in the world.

And my lovelies, it wouldn’t be a ‘pink-tutu’ journey without finding some cute and fluffy bunnies. Carlisle Zoo really had some beauties! Bunnies have to be among my most beloved creatures. There’s something incredibly sweet and charming about them! And while they might not be exactly as elegant as my pink tutu, I’ll happily share the stage with these fluffballs anytime.

More than Tutu Dreams

You know, it's more than just wearing a tutu - it’s about finding that spark of joy, that whimsy within you. It’s about dancing your heart out and sharing the wonder with others. It's about those beautiful moments when laughter, joy, and elegance intertwine - all topped off with a touch of pink tulle.

It's not always about perfect moves. It's about the passion and joy in every twirl. That’s why I believe anyone can try ballet. Don't be afraid to put on a tutu, explore a ballet class or even take a wild ride with a magnificent horse named Zephyr. I'm proof that even if you think ballet is not for you, that might just be a mistaken perception! And you can bet that I'm working hard every day on making ballet more accessible and bringing it into every person's lives.

It's time to get your pink tutus out, my lovelies, and embrace all the wonderful possibilities! I promise, your life will be more colourful for it. Until next time, sending lots of pink love!

Stay pink, stay beautiful, stay joyful, * *Emma
