Hornchurch, Here I Come! 🩰💖

Hello my darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger Emma, bringing you post number 6295 straight from the heart of… wait for it… HORNCHURCH! Yep, you heard that right. This Derbyshire girl has ventured to the outskirts of London to spread the pink tutu gospel! 😉

Now, I know what you're thinking: Hornchurch? That's not exactly a renowned ballet haven, is it? But you know what? I’m all about defying expectations and spreading the love of ballet everywhere I go, even if it’s to a place that’s more famous for its… let’s just say… less cultural attractions. 😂

This week's adventure started with a journey that felt more like a scene straight out of a Jane Austen novel than a commute to the big smoke. Forget those dreary buses and boring Tube journeys, I opted for a beautiful, slow, and oh-so-romantic train ride! I snuggled into my seat, admired the passing countryside, and took in all the scenic views. (And no, I wasn't wearing my tutu for this particular part of the journey, even though I desperately wanted to.)

But speaking of tutus, did I mention that today's tutu story is a bit different? Remember that old adage, "If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it?" Well, I thought the same about my tutus. So I’m keeping my sparkly, sequined ones for the big performances and decided to venture out on a budget! 👛 This week, I’ve discovered a brand new obsession - thrift store tutus! Yep, you heard me right!

So, imagine my joy when I found this absolute gem in a charity shop back in Derbyshire. This beautiful pink tutu (it had to be pink, naturally!) cost all of £2.99! Let’s just say that I did a little celebratory twirl right there in the shop! It's not the most glamorous of tutus, but it has character, you know? A little frayed, a little worn, but just as perfectly twirly as any of my other creations!

And don’t even get me started on how perfect it is for taking on the adventures of the big city, or indeed the less famous outer suburbs. London was already waiting for me, with its vibrant culture and history waiting around every corner. From the grandeur of the Royal Albert Hall to the buzz of Covent Garden, I'm determined to show everyone that you don’t need to be in the West End to experience a taste of magic. 😉

So, I’ve started by hitting Hornchurch’s local theatre – it’s small but it has that true charm of amateur theatre that reminds you why it all started, and the passion for theatre still exists. 🎭 I was treated to a heartwarming production of The Sound of Music by a fantastic group of local performers. Seeing them bring this story to life filled me with inspiration and reminded me that theatre is about so much more than fancy sets and dazzling costumes. It's about bringing joy to others and sharing your love of performing.

But wait, there's more! The adventure continues! This weekend, I’m going to immerse myself in all that Hornchurch has to offer. I've heard whispers of a beautiful park where I can get lost in the magic of nature, and there's a wildlife sanctuary nearby which is an absolute MUST! (I mean, who doesn't love a bit of wildlife spotting while wearing a tutu, right? 😉)

But let's not forget why we're all here, darling! It's not just about the destination, it’s about the journey, the twirls, and of course, the pink tutu! Because if there's one thing I’ve learned from my adventures, it’s that you can find the magic in the most unexpected places – especially when you’re twirling in your pink tutu.

Don’t forget to check back in with me for more of my adventures here in Hornchurch – there’s more pink tutu fun coming your way, I promise!

Love, Emma 💕
