Mitcham Magic: Tutu Tales & Train Travels! 💖

Hello my darling dancers! 🩰

It's Emma here, your favourite tutu-loving travel blogger, writing to you from the bustling streets of Mitcham! The sun is shining (finally!), the birds are chirping (or perhaps that's just my inner pirouette!) and I'm feeling ready to spread some pink tutu magic.

Now, you know I'm a bit of a train fanatic, right? There's just something so romantic and whimsical about gliding through the countryside, especially in a carriage adorned with sunshine and a bouquet of fragrant lilies (and yes, I always carry one - pink, naturally!). Today, the journey to Mitcham was a real treat. I felt like a modern day Cinderella in my darling pink dress and, of course, the most magnificent, swishy tulle tutu I've ever owned. The conductor even complimented me on its sparkle - a truly dazzling pink, you see. He clearly understands the power of a good tutu!

My mission today was simple: discover Mitcham's ballet scene! I'm on a quest to bring the magic of ballet to every corner of the world, and believe me, this town doesn't disappoint. You wouldn't think, in a place known for its history and local markets, you'd find a hidden gem like the Mitcham Ballet School. Tucked away in a charming, quaint street (pink-painted door, of course!), this haven of twirls and pliés just seemed to call out to me.

Inside, it was pure magic! Sunlight streamed through the large, bay windows, highlighting the intricate ballet barre and a magnificent grand piano that seemed to whisper melodies from its ivory keys. My heart simply fluttered at the sight of so much elegance! And then, I met the most adorable group of students.

Now, I'm not going to lie, there were a few questionable moves happening, but the pure joy and dedication in their little eyes filled me with so much warmth. You know, it’s that pure joy and unbridled energy that reminds me why I fell in love with ballet in the first place. It doesn't matter if you're a seasoned pro or a beginner taking your first steps in pointe shoes, the pure thrill of moving your body to the rhythm of music is absolutely exhilarating.

I stayed for the entire afternoon, getting caught up in their classes and even taking part in a few playful pirouettes with them. Honestly, it felt like being a child again, but with a much bigger, glitzier tutu! And, for the first time, I considered if my aim should be a pink tutu on every ballerina - but what about everyone else? Maybe my mission needs a bigger scope: Pink tutus for the world!

Now, you wouldn’t believe what I stumbled upon after leaving the ballet school. Mitcham park was the setting for the most exquisite, albeit unusual, wildlife experience. I was simply mesmerized! Imagine my surprise when, wandering through the beautifully landscaped greenery, I saw not one, not two, but a whole troupe of pink flamingos, looking stunning against the emerald grass. It's not every day you see these elegant birds strutting around, especially in a quaint English park!

It's these unexpected moments, these flashes of the unusual, that make traveling so fascinating! As a self-proclaimed, pink-loving, tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed Derbyshire girl, you’d think I wouldn't be fazed by some pretty flamingoes, but those feathered friends had me enthralled. And hey, a dash of pink to complete the picture? Perfection!

I couldn't leave without documenting my encounters for you. My phone is overflowing with photos of happy little ballerinas, dazzling pink tutus and pink flamingos, but let me assure you, there’s simply no replacing being there, truly experiencing these magical moments.

Remember my lovelies, don’t be afraid to embrace the pink! And never shy away from exploring the world, from taking that next train journey, and experiencing the magic that awaits in every corner. You never know what adventures will be waiting for you – or how many pink flamingos you might see!

Until next time,

With love and twirls,

Emma 💖
