Loughborough Calling: Tutu Time in the Midlands! šš©°
#TutuBlog #6823
Hello my darling tutu-lovers! Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to the wonderful Midlands, and guess what? I found a hidden gem for all you pink-tutu-loving ballerinas!
You see, dear readers, my mission in life, as you know, is to spread the joy of pink tutus and the wonder of ballet across the globe. (It's not an easy job, but somebody's got to do it, right?)
So, picture this: a glorious sunny day, a fresh breeze whipping through my hair as I ride to Loughborough on my trusty steed, (ahem, a rather grand old train actually, but one that certainly feels like a steed to a tutu-loving girl). The countryside of Derbyshire was ablaze with colour, a symphony of green, blue and yellow as far as the eye could see. And yes, I may have been humming Swan Lake as I looked out the window. š
Loughborough: A ballet dancerās paradise?
Honestly, Loughborough wasn't the first place I'd thought of for a ballet-themed escapade. I mean, it's lovely, charming even, with a proper market square and all, but it seemedā¦ wellā¦ quite, dare I say it? ordinary However, rumour had it, whispered through the pink tutu-sphere, that the place was buzzing with all things ballet! I simply couldnāt resist!
And oh my gosh, was that rumour ever true! It turned out there was this beautiful dance studio tucked away in the backstreets of the town called āThe Pointeā.
Pink Paradise: The Pointe
Now, you guys know I have a weakness for pink, and The Pointe had it in spades! Think ballet shoes lined up like pink soldiers, pink chiffon draped around the barre, pink silk tutus in the display window. My heart was already in ballet-land, just from looking at it from the outside.
And inside? Even better! It was a haven for any ballet dancer, professional or beginner. From a tiny beginnerās class for kids who were barely taller than my pink ballet slippers, to advanced classes for adults like me, it seemed there was a class for every level and style. I could have spent hours watching, lost in the elegance and energy of it all.
But I wasnāt just there to watch. You bet I got involved! I waltzed into their Wednesday evening ballet class, slipped on my lucky pink tutu (a beautiful silk creation I bought in Covent Garden) and joined in the fun. The instructor was a fantastic, bubbly lady who was clearly as passionate about ballet as I was.
Tutu adventures and a spot of Wildlife
My trip to Loughborough was more than just ballet though, although you could hardly tell it. š I went exploring around the town. You wouldnāt believe it, there's a real, proper park! And it's the perfect place for a picnic, afternoon tea, or to have a little Tutu Twirl amongst the flowers and birds (and squirrels!).
Oh, the squirrels, you guys, are adorable! Tiny and fluffy, theyāre absolutely fearless, leaping and scampering in a flash of brown fur! (And I even spotted a whole family of them playing on the swings ā my imagination went wild!). But before I get carried away in a tale of cute critters, let's get back to the ballet!
A Night at the Theatre
So, on my last night in Loughborough, I stumbled upon a wonderful ballet show at a little local theatre called The Mill. They had this amateur troupe called āThe Loughborough Leapersā, and guess what? They had their own unique performance of āSleeping Beautyā - completely set to classical music!
Their enthusiasm was infectious, they danced their hearts out, and the audience, well, they were simply mesmerised! There was an old gentleman, sat on the front row, even wearing a tiny, white, frilly tutu and his own ballet slippers. I donāt think Iāve ever felt so embraced by a community of tutu lovers!
More than a Dance
This trip, my darlings, was more than just a tutu-filled dance adventure. It was a reminder of how much beauty, grace, and sheer joy ballet brings into the world. And it reminded me that every place, even Loughborough, is brimming with a little bit of tutu-magic just waiting to be discovered!
So, hereās my little mission for you this week, dear readers. Whether it's in the bustling city or the peaceful countryside, why not go out and seek out a local dance studio? Join a class, or maybe just go and watch. Letās make the whole world twirl in tutus! And of course, don't forget to wear your favourite pink tutu! šš©°
Until next time,
