Airdrie: Pancakes & Pirouettes (Post #6893)

Hello lovelies! Emma here, reporting live from the charming town of Airdrie, just outside of Glasgow! As you know, I adore discovering hidden gems, and this week, it was all about a charming ballet studio and, of course, the obligatory pink tutu moment. 😉

This weekend was an absolute whirlwind! After weeks of planning, I finally booked my train ticket (first class, naturally!), which made the journey so luxurious. I adore train travel; watching the world flit past my window is always such a magical experience, especially when there’s a beautiful rolling countryside in view! And I don’t even need to mention the glorious views from the Peak District. Who knows what exciting adventures I might discover whilst staring out the window?

But before my train journey began, I was lucky enough to spend a delightful morning in the Derbyshire Dales, home to the incredibly majestic Peak District National Park. It was simply stunning. It wasn't long before I found myself mesmerized by the adorable little wildlife and gazing upon the scenery, which was like something out of a fairytale! My favorite find was this cute little field mouse, absolutely fearless, sitting happily by my picnic basket and eyeing my homemade fruit scones (although I admit, they looked quite delicious). What a day for a stroll in nature and some lovely, delicious scone time!

Once I arrived in Airdrie, the hustle and bustle of the city really grabbed me. My hotel, with its whimsical pink decor (perfect!), had a cute little coffee shop downstairs, and so I popped in to sample a slice of cake and a cuppa, a British tradition you can’t miss. I’m also a huge fan of British afternoon tea!

After my sugary indulgence, I went in search of Airdrie's delightful local ballet studio - my final destination and the reason for this blog! I wanted to take a peek into a class. You see, I absolutely love ballet and trying new studios! They each have such a different atmosphere and energy, making each class unique and special. There's a whole community there!

This particular studio was hidden away, in a quaint corner of town, up some winding stone steps. When I found it, I swear my heart skipped a beat – it felt just like a ballet scene straight out of a movie! They even had a beautiful hand-painted mural on the side depicting a charming scene of ballerina figures amongst clouds. I just had to share it with you on my Instagram story.

And as a fellow dance enthusiast, you’re probably wondering – what happened inside the studio? It’s always a little bit nerve-wracking walking into a new studio as a stranger! It’s also one of my absolute favourite things to do as a blogger.

First things first: everyone at the studio was absolutely delightful! Everyone was so welcoming. The warm smiles were lovely and it felt so great to be part of a ballet community again. Even though my arrival was quite last minute, there was still a friendly atmosphere that just sucked me in.

During the class itself, I had an absolute blast. My dance teacher, a wonderful lady with kind eyes, explained all the movements with the most elegant hand gestures (always a plus). I don’t know if I mentioned I adore elegant hand gestures! Even if I wasn’t the most advanced in the class, I really learned a lot and left feeling exhilarated.

You guys, I honestly love ballet classes! Nothing feels better than moving your body, being in the studio with so much energy, and feeling all the emotions! I actually believe it's magic. You simply feel incredible once the class is over. Of course, one of my biggest loves is sharing this magical experience. That’s why my new mission is to help as many people as possible, everywhere, fall in love with ballet – it's so joyful! What better way to share this love than by incorporating ballet-inspired fashion, even a simple touch, into everyday life? It's like injecting a little bit of magic into everything.

So to celebrate my ballet adventure in Airdrie and my love for the beauty of tutus, I had a very special pink-tutu moment for all you dear followers, using some inspiration from the local farmers' market!

Before my day at the ballet studio, I wandered through the bustling, bustling, local farmers' market where I spied some beautiful, fluffy pancakes (not from the bakery, obviously!). Of course, it immediately gave me an idea!

That evening, armed with my pancake-stack and my beautiful pink tutu (one of my absolute favorite, light pink beauties), I made a charming little photoshoot (just outside the studio). My friends know I absolutely adore finding inspiration from the unexpected – and a stack of delicious pancakes were simply begging to be part of my ballet adventures! You all know I love sharing those photos with you. What do you think of the pancake tutu idea? My photos certainly had everyone thinking about delicious pancakes and ballet. It made for a great time!

But honestly, that’s the beauty of travel: embracing the unexpected and allowing yourself to be swept up in the moment!

Oh, and remember, dear followers: Always be on the lookout for your own pancake tutu moment! You never know when a random adventure might turn into something fabulous. Remember, just try something new, have fun, and wear some pink tutus – the world needs more sunshine, just like everyone needs a pink tutu. It’s good for the soul.

And before I leave you for the day (or maybe this should be my bedtime story?) … Don't forget to stay connected with my daily blogs at www.pink-tutu.com .

Until tomorrow,

Emma 💕
