#TutuBlog 2015-09-21: Wembley, Tutus & a Touch of Europe
Hey there, Tutu-lovers! It's Emma, your favourite Derbyshire ballerina with a penchant for pink tutus and a passion for sharing my adventures. Today's post is number 7019 (can you believe it?!) and it's all about my whirlwind trip to Wembley, a glorious ballet show, and, of course, my fabulous European-inspired tutu.
Remember those gorgeous Parisian-style tutus with the big, frilly, flowing skirts I was raving about in last week's post? Well, they've become my absolute favourite, so naturally, I had to take one along with me to London for my little ballet escapade. Imagine this: sunshine streaming through the window of the train, my pale pink, slightly faded tutu swirling gently around me like a cloud, and the delicious aroma of fresh coffee filling my senses. Train journeys are truly a ballet in themselves โ so peaceful, romantic and filled with anticipation.
This time, instead of arriving in London by horse as I often do, I chose a more leisurely journey by train, settling myself amongst the commuters, all with their headphones on, and dreaming of my ballet fix later that evening. A few minutes outside the station, I met a delightful lady, all bundled up in her warmest coat. As we exchanged a shy smile and a quick, โlovely day, isn't it?โ my tutu caught her eye. โOoh, what's that lovely thing? It looks like a princess!โ she said with a wide smile, her face glowing with amusement. And you know what? I felt like a princess! Maybe I should start carrying a tiara too!
London buzzed with excitement as always. I was just giddy with anticipation as I made my way to Wembley Stadium, where tonight's show was taking place. The massive stadium, usually home to football, was transforming into a world of music, artistry, and, most importantly, dance. As I passed the towering gates, a huge banner proclaimed, "Welcome to the World of Dance!" It felt so apt.
Now, imagine my surprise when I discovered the show wasn't just your usual ballet. This was something a little more, a little different - something truly spectacular. The programme was a collaboration of styles: classic ballet mixed with elements of contemporary dance, a dash of modern hip-hop, and some truly mind-blowing acrobatic stunts. And yes, I got to see it all wearing my gorgeous European-style tutu, which was a definite highlight. The flow and lightness of the fabric matched perfectly with the fluidity and beauty of the dancers' movements.
I must tell you, one of the best bits was when we got to watch an up-and-coming dancer from the Royal Ballet perform. It was so exciting to see young talent like that taking the stage! It makes me believe that ballet will flourish for many years to come. I couldn't help but get caught up in the energy of the crowd and the power of the performance, even cheering alongside everyone else.
There was an overwhelming feeling of unity, a connection with everyone around me, united by the power and the passion of ballet. As I sat in my plush red velvet seat and watched the incredible performances, my imagination ran wild. It was just beautiful - I had tears in my eyes and my heart was filled with an incredible feeling of peace and joy. And if there is one thing ballet truly embodies, it is that, right?
Oh, but before I forget - the after-party was absolute heaven! I waltzed around the party room, feeling like a pink-clad fairytale character, while music throbbed through my veins. It was such a treat, enjoying some bubbly and delicious canapes, all while discussing the magic of ballet and all things tutu with fellow dancers, friends and admirers of the arts.
What a day it was! The excitement and wonder, the sheer passion, and of course, my wonderful pink tutu that allowed me to step right into the world of European ballet elegance for the day! It really was a day filled with unforgettable memories, and let me tell you, I am already longing for my next big adventure.
As always, my dear readers, remember my motto - be bold, be brilliant, and embrace your inner ballerina. Wear your pink tutu, strut your stuff, and most importantly - enjoy life! Until next time, darlings. And do come visit my little corner of the web at www.pink-tutu.com for daily updates, photos, and some Tutu Tips to inspire you on your ballet journey!
