Hammersmith Bound! Tutu Blog Post #7021
Hello my darling tutufarians! It's Emma here, back with you again with another jam-packed blog post full of twirls and giggles. Today, I'm channeling my inner ballerina in the most delightful way, as I jet off on a train journey to the bustling city of Hammersmith!
Now, before you start wondering what a Derbyshire lass like myself is doing in London, let me tell you – this trip is all about the magic of dance! Hammersmith is a haven for ballerinas and ballet enthusiasts like me, and this weekend, I'm attending the most fabulous performance of Swan Lake. Oh, and did I mention? I'm wearing my new pink Italian tutu – you'll have to see the pictures later!
I have to tell you, I absolutely adore the journey to London by train. It's the perfect opportunity to settle into my pink fluffy slippers and a good book (currently obsessed with "The Ballet Diaries," which you have to check out, girls!), while gazing out the window at the picturesque English countryside. I even spotted a field of wild horses on my way to the station – now those are the sort of ballet stars you never see in a theater!
But back to the matter at hand! My new Italian tutu is quite frankly divine. This thing is practically a work of art. It's crafted from the most delicate pink silk you've ever felt, and it has the most intricate, delicate hand-stitched lace. I mean, talk about dreamy! It's everything I've ever wanted in a tutu and more. And the best part? I can't wait to wear it to the performance!
Speaking of the performance, Swan Lake! My absolute favourite ballet! You just can't go wrong with Tchaikovsky's incredible score and the story's tragic, yet captivating tale. Every performance I've seen has brought tears to my eyes and a deep sense of awe. I love seeing how different ballet companies interpret the iconic roles of the Swan Queen and Prince Siegfried.
And speaking of iconic roles, can we talk about the incredible ballerinas who are bringing Swan Lake to life this weekend? The lead ballerina is none other than the dazzling Natalia! Her grace and precision are simply stunning – she moves like a dream. You have to watch her pirouettes; they're just mesmerising. I'm absolutely going to try and copy her signature move this week in my classes – oh, wouldn't it be a dream to have her skill and artistry?!
You might be wondering why I'm so passionate about ballet. Well, for me, ballet is more than just dancing. It's about artistry, expression, and pure joy. It's a way of life, a way of seeing the world, a way of expressing myself. And every time I put on my tutu, it’s like wearing a superpower, ready to soar, to dance, to inspire!
One of my absolute favourite parts of going to ballet performances is spotting the tutus that people wear! I get so much inspiration from watching everyone express themselves through fashion and dance. And don't even get me started on the post-performance tea party and gossip with the other ballet enthusiasts!
However, I can't just talk about performance! It's so important to remember where all this amazing artistry comes from! That’s why I am also a regular at my ballet class! It’s important to keep our skills honed! This week’s lesson has me perfecting the pirouette! You have to try it – it’s an amazing feeling to feel that spin and perfect control!
But, honestly, the real magic of ballet starts with you! Everyone can be a ballerina, or a tutufarian like myself! You don’t have to wear a tutu for that. It’s about expressing yourself, finding the joy in your body, embracing creativity and sharing that with others! So, this week, let's try and add some ballet into your life! You don’t need a fancy theatre to find joy! Try listening to some Tchaikovsky and having a twirl in your living room – I guarantee you’ll smile!

Much love,
Emma xx
