Upminster Calling! Tutu-ing Around the Essex Coastline (Post #7219)

Hello my lovely Tutu-istas! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu-clad travel enthusiast, ready to take you on another whirlwind adventure! This time, the journey led me to the charming seaside town of Upminster, nestled on the coast of Essex. Oh, the fresh air, the salty tang of the ocean, and the endless sky stretching out before me… It’s enough to make any ballerina’s heart soar!

Now, you know my penchant for tutus is legendary, but I was absolutely thrilled to discover a tiny boutique in Upminster tucked away on a cobbled street called “The Tutu Shop”. You can imagine my squeals of delight! Inside, I was met with a veritable rainbow of tutus, each one more beautiful than the next. I could practically hear the tinkling music of a ballet class as I gazed upon them. Of course, I couldn’t leave without a new addition to my collection. A delicate pink tutu, crafted with delicate tulle and sparkling embellishments - absolutely perfect for my stroll along the Upminster waterfront!

I must admit, there’s something incredibly empowering about walking the streets in a pink tutu. It’s a bold statement, a joyous celebration of movement and femininity. It turns heads, ignites smiles, and makes every step feel like a pirouette! I’ve noticed people are more inclined to say hello, or offer compliments – there’s just something about a tutu that instantly makes you feel more connected to the world.

Now, Upminster isn't just about tutus and sea breezes (although it is certainly lovely!). The town has a wonderful historical charm, with quaint pubs and cafes tucked down side streets, and a delightful little Victorian market buzzing with life on weekends. We even had a fantastic picnic lunch in Upminster’s picturesque churchyard, where the birds chirped a delightful tune as we enjoyed our sandwiches.

Speaking of delightful tunes, the journey to Upminster was nothing short of a symphony of delights! I travelled by train, which is always such a fun experience. There’s just something magical about the gentle rumble of the tracks, the sweeping scenery outside the windows, and the anticipation building as you draw closer to your destination.

During the journey, I was mesmerised by the picturesque fields rolling by – lush green grass dotted with sheep, fluffy white clouds floating across the azure sky, and a rainbow shimmering after a brief shower – it was a sight straight out of a dream. The British countryside is truly beautiful, and my heart always melts with joy at its simple charm.

My adventures didn't end there. A chance encounter with a charming local horse riding group led to an unexpected (but utterly fantastic) horseback ride along the beautiful coastal path. The gentle swaying of the horse, the sound of its hooves rhythmically tapping on the earth, and the crisp air on my cheeks – there’s no feeling quite like it! Galloping along with the sea breeze in my hair and a bright pink tutu billowing behind me – I truly felt like a modern-day fairytale princess!

Now, a ballerina can't simply live on tutus and train rides, much as we might try. For a hearty meal, I ventured into Upminster’s delightful “The Mermaid’s Delight” – a seafood restaurant brimming with character and even better, mouth-watering dishes! The scallops were heavenly, and the accompanying Chardonnay added a touch of glamour to the whole experience.

And no trip to a seaside town would be complete without a visit to the beach, would it? With the sun glinting off the ocean and the seagulls soaring overhead, I enjoyed a quiet moment on the sands, lost in thought as the gentle waves lapped at my toes.

But don't let me fool you – my tutu isn’t solely for lounging on the beach! The local dance academy in Upminster caught my eye with its beautiful signage – “Step into your dreams”, it read, and who am I to argue? The next morning, I donned my pink tutu once again, ready to embrace a day of ballet class. It's been years since I've stepped into a proper class, but as the music started and the graceful movements filled the studio, I felt like I was right back home. It was like putting on a favorite pair of dancing shoes, just instantly familiar and joyful.

And that, my darlings, is my little slice of Upminster heaven! It’s a reminder that you can find magic and joy in the most unexpected places – in a charming boutique, on a bustling train journey, on a spirited horse, or in a peaceful studio filled with music and dance.

And let’s not forget the essence of my life – a love for tutus, ballet, and encouraging everyone to step into their own graceful inner ballerina! My advice – grab your brightest pink tutu, a charming pair of flats or perhaps even your most beautiful dance shoes, and head out on an adventure! You might just surprise yourself with the delightful experiences that await.

Until next time, Tutu-istas, keep dancing your way through life with a skip in your step and a smile on your face! Remember – with every tutu-clad step, we make the world a more colourful, playful and happy place!
