Broadstairs Bliss: Tutu Adventures and Seagull Shenanigans!

#TutuBlog Post 7224

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu-loving ballet enthusiast, ready to share another day of sunshine and twirling adventures! Today I'm whisking you away to the beautiful seaside town of Broadstairs in Kent, a charming little spot that’s captured my heart with its picturesque harbour and, of course, its breathtaking seagull population (more on those later!).

But first, let's talk tutus! As you know, my mission in life is to get everyone twirling in a pink tutu - and today's outfit was everything! I opted for a voluminous tulle creation in a delicate shade of rose, paired with a dainty white lace top and my trusty pair of ballet flats. Honestly, it's all about embracing that graceful femininity, isn't it?

The journey to Broadstairs was an absolute delight! I decided to ditch the usual train journey and instead hopped onto a rather majestic-looking chestnut mare (who knew there were still horse-drawn carriages?!) that took me through the heart of the English countryside. It was a gloriously romantic trip - the gentle rocking motion, the scent of fresh hay, and the sound of the horses hooves clicking on the cobbles – pure magic!

Reaching Broadstairs was like stepping into a seaside postcard. The harbour, bustling with fishing boats, was absolutely enchanting. And speaking of enchanting, the star of the show was most definitely the seagulls! I swear, those feathery fiends have an innate sense of when I’m reaching for a delectable treat. A puff of pastry in the harbour became their prey in a split second - you wouldn't believe how fast they can snatch things! They weren’t bothered by my wide tulle though – it seems they have impeccable taste.

Naturally, the day wasn’t complete without some ballet inspired shenanigans. The open air theatre by the sea was hosting a local ballet class! There, surrounded by the sounds of the crashing waves and seagull squawks (who knew the rhythmic flapping of their wings could sound quite melodic?), I joined a group of lovely ladies for a tutti frutti ballet workout.

Don't worry, my lovelies, there's absolutely no need for advanced training or perfect technique. We did some lovely pliés, graceful tendus, and elegant port de bras while enjoying the seabreeze on our faces – absolutely blissful.

After my workout, I indulged in some classic seaside delights. Fish and chips on the pier while watching the boats come and go? Check. A delectable ice cream with a waffle cone that towered above my head, sprinkled with brightly coloured ‘tutti frutti’ sprinkles, naturally? Check.

Even though Broadstairs might not be known for its high-end fashion houses, I found some absolute gems in the little boutiques. You'd be surprised what you can discover in quaint seaside towns – a gorgeous straw sun hat for my twirling adventures and a vintage ballet book with delicate illustrations - must add that to my collection.

One of my favourite finds, though, wasn't tucked away in a boutique, but right in the middle of the charming harbour! You'd think a little pink tutu might not be the most practical attire for a visit to the fish market, but you’d be wrong! I simply loved the energy of it – the vibrant colours, the sea-fresh air, the cries of the market vendors. It was pure theatrical fun!

The day flew by, filled with sunshine, giggles, and twirling escapades, which reminds me, if you're thinking about planning your next little escapade, do check out my 'Pink Tutu' travel guide, featuring all sorts of exciting places (both far-flung and a little closer to home) that are perfect for ballet inspired adventures, like charming seaside towns with delightful markets, gorgeous country houses with sprawling gardens that are begging for graceful arabesques, or maybe a cosy woodland glade perfect for a pirouette under the trees? The world is your oyster, my lovelies!

Don’t forget, darling, my aim is to make the world a prettier, more graceful, and more pink-tutu-filled place! I want to inspire you to embrace the beauty of ballet and twirl your way to joy, regardless of your location.

So, stay tuned, as we embark on more adventures next time. Remember, life's a performance and, my dear, you're the leading lady!

Much love and twirls,

Emma
