Basildon Bound! 🩰

Hey, Tutu-Lovers! It's your girl, Emma, back with another post! πŸŽ‰ This is post number 7250, can you believe it? That's 7250 days of spreading the joy of tutus and ballet! Honestly, I can't imagine my life without them! πŸ’–

Today, I'm heading down to Basildon for a very special occasion - the opening night of "The Sleeping Beauty" at the Towngate Theatre. Can you tell I'm excited?! 😍

Before I get into the show itself, let's talk about my outfit. This is where I really get to express myself, and I chose a pink, **of course! This particular one is a very narrow design with lots of layers of tulle, it kind of makes me look like a fairytale princess, don't you think? πŸ’• But don't worry, I paired it with a comfy black top, because being a ballerina isn't all about glamorous attire, it's about the strength and dedication, even if my nails are sparkly! πŸ’…

The journey was half the fun, I went by train which always puts me in a really good mood, I like being surrounded by so many other people. I find that going to the theatre is a really communal thing and people go dressed in a wide range of outfits - even when its an ballet production. This time there were a couple of people on the train with little pink tutus! We totally had a fangirl moment! πŸ₯Ί

Anyway, onto Basildon! The Towngate is a gorgeous, intimate little theatre - the perfect space to enjoy a beautiful performance like "The Sleeping Beauty". I was lucky enough to secure seats in the front row! 😍 Oh my gosh, the performance was breath-taking! The costumes were a dream, there were these fabulous red shoes and so much dramatic tulle and sparkles - it truly was spectacular. The dancing was incredible! So graceful, so powerful, so emotive - the story came alive right before my eyes.

My top three highlights were: * The beautiful costumes and intricate design! The creative team did such an amazing job at capturing the magical essence of the fairy tale. It truly took my breath away!
* The dancing was incredible, so powerful! I think my favourite moment was the Act III Grand Pas de Deux – there was such an incredible display of technique, grace and expression. The emotions flowed freely and I almost got tears in my eyes! πŸ˜₯ * It was truly enchanting! I couldn’t stop thinking about it the entire journey home.

Leaving the theatre, it was just getting dark so I wandered along by the river watching a family of ducks who were feeding their ducklings and it was incredibly calming. I realised how important it is to have time for beauty in our lives - whether it be the art of ballet, a quiet moment in nature or just appreciating a pink tutu. 😊

My night out at the theatre in Basildon, was an absolute dream. I have already started counting down the days until my next ballet performance!

What about you? Are there any ballet shows or dance performances coming up in your area? I'd love to hear about them! Love, Emma.
