Hartlepool Highlights: A Cyan Tutu Adventure!

#TutuBlog Post 7289

Hello darlings! Emma here, and it's time for another instalment of #TutuBlog, this time from the wonderful, windy town of Hartlepool! Now, I know what you're thinking - Hartlepool? Isn't that a bit... off the beaten track? But hold your horses (and yes, I'm saying horses because who doesn't love a good gallop?), because Hartlepool held a secret treasure, and guess what? It involved a tutu!

This week, I decided to leave the Derbyshire dales for a little seaside adventure. I packed my suitcase with all my pinkest frocks (you know me!), and a delightful surprise: a cyan tutu! Now, I usually stick to my beloved pink, but there's something about the refreshing hue of cyan that just felt right for this trip. And let's face it, a little splash of colour always brightens up a day, doesn't it?

My journey began at the railway station, of course. I always feel so sophisticated hopping on the train in my tutu. There's something so romantic about the chugging of the train and the scenery rushing by, especially when you're dressed to impress. The people on the platform all gave me curious looks, but hey, it's not every day you see a girl in a cyan tutu rocking out to the music on her headphones, right?

The journey to Hartlepool was filled with laughter and chatter. A lovely chap called Trevor (who told me his wife is a big tutu fan, bless him!) offered me a seat on the train, and we got to talking about our love of ballet. He told me the most wonderful story about how he met his wife at a performance of Swan Lake - talk about swooning!

Anyway, after an hour or so on the train, I arrived at Hartlepool, the sea air greeting me like an old friend. The first thing I noticed was the impressive statue of a monkey... well, actually, it was a monkey with a fish, a real quirk! It made me smile, especially when I realised this whole town seems to revolve around monkeys! Even the Hartlepool United football team mascot is a monkey! You couldn't miss the fun.

I set out exploring and stumbled upon a beautiful little ballet school. Of course, I couldn't resist dropping in. It turns out Hartlepool has quite the vibrant ballet scene! The school's students, from tiny tots to teens, were practising pirouettes with such joy and grace, and the teachers were so warm and welcoming. One sweet little girl even came up to me and told me I had the prettiest tutu she'd ever seen! I told her I’d be back to teach a class soon! You heard it here first, folks.

The next day, I donned my trusty cyan tutu and headed to the historic Hartlepool Town Hall, a breathtaking building that oozed history from every brick and mortar. There was a dance showcase in the grand ballroom, filled with local performers. It was such a magical experience! I was so blown away by the talented dancers, the energy in the room, and the sheer passion on display.

And what would a visit to Hartlepool be without a walk along the harbour? I twirled and twirled along the pier, the cyan tutu flowing in the wind. A playful seagull tried to steal my hat, and I must admit, I actually laughed. It was a beautiful afternoon, and I even caught a glimpse of a few seals swimming in the harbour. Now that’s what I call a truly majestic seaside experience.

In the evenings, I explored the bustling town centre and sampled the local delights – I tried a chip butty (heavenly!), a proper pie and mash, and a local "H’am ’n’ Eggy Bread”. (It's a Hartlepool delicacy, I’m telling you!). But let's not forget the all-important afternoon tea, served in a lovely old tea room overlooking the harbour. It was delightful!

Before leaving Hartlepool, I found a little shop selling handmade crafts, and guess what I found? A tiny little monkey, sitting happily on a colourful cushion! He looked so cute and cheeky I couldn’t leave without him. Now he sits on my dressing table, a reminder of this wonderful journey.

My time in Hartlepool flew by in a flurry of twirls, laughter, and delicious food. It’s true what they say, every little town hides its own unique treasures. Hartlepool surprised me and delighted me! I left feeling refreshed, inspired, and with a little bit of cyan tutu magic still lingering.

This, my dears, is why I believe everyone should experience a trip to Hartlepool! Who knows, you might even discover a little monkey of your own…

Until next time, remember to stay fabulous and always, ALWAYS, embrace the pink tutu life!

Love,

Emma
