Cambridge Calling: A Pink Tutu Adventure! π©°π
Post #7521
Hello my darlings! π
Emma here, and it's time for another pink tutu escapade! Today, I'm whisking you off to the beautiful, historic city of Cambridge, a place that's as charming as a vintage ballet slipper. I love escaping Derbyshire for a little adventure, and there's nothing quite like a train journey for putting me in a whimsical mood. The clickety-clack of the tracks, the scenery whizzing by... It feels like a ballet performance in itself, don't you think? π
I decided to wear my favourite blush-pink tulle tutu, its layers shimmering in the sunshine streaming through the train window. It seemed to attract a flurry of compliments as I glided through the station, making me feel like the star of my very own ballet. Speaking of stars, Cambridge is absolutely bursting with them - not just in the beautiful starry night sky (perfect for gazing up at after a romantic riverside walk!), but also in its dazzling arts scene. π
My mission for today: to explore the magic of Cambridge through the lens of ballet, from its iconic theatres to the graceful movements of its dancers.
First stop: The Cambridge Arts Theatre, an absolute gem! I always get giddy with anticipation as I walk into any theatre, and this one was no exception. Stepping through those ornate doors felt like stepping into a time capsule - with its rich history, plush red seats and glorious stage, I swear I felt a touch of that old-school magic. π
This weekend, I was lucky enough to catch a show at the Cambridge Arts Theatre - a performance by the National Youth Ballet that literally blew my mind! They moved with such fluidity and grace, it was mesmerising. You could see how much they loved their craft and it was a pleasure to be captivated by their sheer joy on stage. I'm always in awe of how much power and emotion they convey just with the movements of their bodies. π€―
The performance was set to a haunting score, filled with moments that brought a tear to my eye (even through my mascara!), as well as laugh-out-loud moments of pure silliness that reminded me just how joyous dance can be. As always, I left feeling utterly inspired and wanting to dance the night away.
Afterward, I decided to venture to Cambridge University's famous *Coronation Piece performance.* This is an annual event put on by the university's dance company, and let me tell you, it was every bit as captivating as the professional productions Iβve seen at the Royal Opera House. They incorporated contemporary choreography alongside classic elements, making for an intriguing blend of styles. There were moments of breathtaking artistry - one particular section had me mesmerized. A group of dancers, dressed in flowing white gowns, performed a beautiful, synchronized piece of modern ballet - it was utterly magical! The movement, the energy, and the sheer joy radiating from the dancers made it an evening I'll never forget. I could watch those students dance for hours, they were truly remarkable. π
I was so enthralled, I actually forgot to eat my afternoon tea at the Rose Garden Tea Rooms. Oh well, at least I got a glimpse of a wildlife display! A mischievous fox crossed the cobbled street and into the Rose Garden... he was a blur of fiery red and was gone before I could snap a photo! π¦ Itβs not often you get to see urban wildlife in action, especially while dressed in a tutu!
I just couldn't get enough of the charm of Cambridge, and decided to extend my stay for another day! I indulged in a romantic boat trip down the river Cam. I might be a big city girl at heart, but there's something utterly magical about these small, quaint English towns - I find it a bit easier to channel my inner ballerina. β¨ The sound of the gentle ripples against the boat, the birdsong, it was all incredibly peaceful and enchanting.
For dinner, I enjoyed a delectable meal at The Blue Door restaurant. As always, the food was fabulous. You can't beat the atmosphere at The Blue Door though. It has this warm, welcoming vibe, plus itβs always filled with life!
I spent my final morning exploring the iconic Kingβs College Chapel, its towering stained glass windows illuminating the intricate carvings within. It felt like a mystical wonderland, and I couldnβt help but admire the skill of the builders who created this masterpiece centuries ago. I even managed to snag a photo of myself with a few curious squirrels. Those little critters seem to love hanging out in Cambridge too!πΏοΈ
It goes without saying that this was a magical trip to Cambridge! And my final takeaway: ballet is truly everywhere, from grand theatres to small town squares, itβs always ready to captivate you and remind you of the simple joy of movement.

See you tomorrow for another pink tutu adventure, Emma xx
