Saint Albans: Pink Tutu Travels #7554

Hello my darlings! It's Emma here, and as you know, I live for travel and ballet! So, this week I decided to hop on a train and head to Saint Albans, a beautiful historic town just outside of London. There's something magical about a train journey, isn't there? Especially when you're rocking your favourite pink tutu (naturally!), sipping on a cuppa, and dreaming of all the exciting things you're going to see and do.

As soon as I stepped off the train, the quaint cobbled streets, bustling cafes, and grand Tudor buildings greeted me like an open invitation to explore. My heart was aflutter! Saint Albans, you truly are a hidden gem, filled with a rich history and captivating charm.

And speaking of charm, how about the wonderful Ballet at The Maltings? It was just divine! I absolutely adored the performance. It's amazing how the delicate movements, graceful leaps, and dramatic expression can transport you to a world of magic and wonder. This performance was especially special - a wonderful mix of classic ballets and contemporary works, it had everything my ballerina heart desired! And the dancers, oh my goodness, they were truly exquisite!

The story line focused around a group of ballerinas on a magical train journey. How perfect for my theme! I nearly shouted out with delight when one of them wore the most magnificent pink tutu. The perfect shade of blush pink, it simply glowed under the stage lights. And the way she twirled and leaped… well, it sent shivers down my spine!

You know what? I decided to take inspiration from this ballet and go full-on ballerina style during my trip! It seemed fitting! I donned a flowing, blush pink chiffon tutu (naturally!), a sparkling white top, and some adorable ballet flats. Honestly, I felt like I could twirl around Saint Albans all day and not tire!

After the show, I was itching for more ballet goodness. You see, there's something incredibly special about learning the art of ballet in a beautiful new location, so I headed to the local ballet school. A very nice lady called Amelia ran it, and she took me in like one of her own! I enjoyed the lesson immensely! They played beautiful music while we practiced our leaps, turns, and graceful movements. It really felt like a dream come true, all tucked away in this charming little town.

Between ballet and wandering through the lovely old streets, I found some gems! Let me tell you, the quaint antique shops filled with hidden treasures were truly a sight to behold. My favourite, The Curios Cabinet, had the most beautiful china teacups and vintage jewellery! I had to add a few of those beautiful teacups to my collection. They’ll look absolutely perfect with my pink tutu in the background!

For my first lunch in Saint Albans, I indulged in some heavenly homemade pasta at an Italian trattoria - you just can’t resist a good carb-loading session when you're a ballet dancer, right? The pasta was so delicious, and they had a beautiful Italian-inspired pink tutu on display! How's that for a spot of serendipity! It was just begging to be worn, but alas, I wasn't wearing an actual ballet skirt over my tutu, or it could have been my outfit. Imagine! Pink tutu over pink tutu! I almost did!

Another highlight of my Saint Albans escapade was exploring the stunning Verulamium Roman Museum. I just love ancient history, and it was truly fascinating to learn about this Roman city's origins and explore the incredible ruins. It made me imagine the city back then, buzzing with activity and stories. You could imagine those Roman ladies sporting colourful tunics, so much like tutus, although more of an ancient vibe, I’m sure!

Naturally, my trip wasn't complete without a spot of retail therapy. You see, my darling readers, it wouldn't be a pink-tutu.com adventure without a trip to a beautiful boutique or two! In Saint Albans, I stumbled upon a fabulous store called "The Fashionable Finch". It was filled with lovely outfits and accessories - some in beautiful pink, naturally. I treated myself to a stunning pair of pink satin ballet shoes - so elegant, perfect for twirling, and a lovely addition to my tutu wardrobe! They will definitely feature in my next ballet themed blog.

The whole town was so incredibly charming and full of life, which inspired me to spend some time simply soaking up the atmosphere. I strolled along the bustling High Street, watched street performers, enjoyed delicious cakes at a cozy tea room, and sat by the picturesque lake. All while in my magnificent pink tutu! I even spotted a group of swans gliding through the water! They looked so majestic in their feathered costumes. Just like us ballerinas! They reminded me of how ballet can be like a dance with nature, beautiful and elegant in its simplicity.

My heart feels full, and I must say that Saint Albans has earned a permanent spot on my travel list. It truly is a place that's perfect for a pink tutu pilgrimage! It's beautiful, inspiring, and full of enchanting surprises around every corner.

Before I leave you, darlings, I leave you with this: Why don't you try a pink tutu on and make a ballet-themed trip somewhere special for yourself? It doesn’t have to be grand, a lovely walk around your favourite place will do. Ballet isn't just a form of dance, it's an adventure, a journey of self-expression and creativity. So embrace your inner ballerina and get ready to twirl!

As always, keep those twirling shoes polished and your heart full of joy! I’ll be back tomorrow with another adventure.

Lots of love,

Emma xxx
