London Calling! (Post #7741)

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back with another exciting update from my whirlwind life of tutus and travels! As you know, I'm a firm believer that life is too short to wear anything but pink and twirl in a tutu. And that's exactly what I've been doing, my loves, this week, right here in the big smoke!

This time I've traded in my trusty steed (I just love the freedom of a good horseback ride, wouldn't you agree?) for a slightly more modern mode of transport - the trusty train. I mean, come on, the train journey itself is a little ballet in its own right, with its rhythmic chugging and those dramatic station announcements, isn't it?

Landing in London is always a joy, it's so full of energy, creativity, and of course, ballet! It was simply bursting with ballet activities this week, I was spoilt for choice! But fear not, I did my darndest to take it all in, with a big, pink tutu grin on my face.

First stop, the Royal Opera House! Oh my goodness, how utterly magnificent! Imagine a building that makes you feel like you've stepped into a fairytale, with exquisite decor and a buzz of anticipation so thick you could practically taste it. Of course, I had to dress for the occasion - a brand new, cyan tutu, so fabulous, it made the entire performance even more dazzling! And the performance itself, well, it was divine! I mean, you wouldn't catch me writing a ballet review, darling, but let's just say that the grace, the emotion, the pure magic on stage left me utterly speechless.

The next day, it was off to the Sadler's Wells Theatre! You know, they call it "the home of dance", and for good reason. This beautiful theatre felt a little more relaxed than the ROH, more intimate. And, it was all about contemporary ballet! Oh my goodness, the raw talent, the heart, the stories those dancers told, simply beautiful! They weren't afraid to break those classic ballet norms, and I, my loves, was here for it. You know how much I adore trying new things, especially when it's all about pushing boundaries!

My London trip wouldn't be complete without some serious dancing of my own! Now, the best thing about this city is the sheer variety of classes you can find - ballet, contemporary, even ballet street, oh, it’s incredible! I took a ballet street class in the coolest studio - imagine cobblestone walls, exposed brick and funky lighting. You just wouldn’t believe how these moves perfectly combine contemporary ballet, urban street dance and all my favorite pop hits. It was pure joy.

The highlight of my week, however, was my visit to the Serpentine Gallery! Did you know it houses the Serpentine Pavilion each summer, an amazing feat of architecture by a world-renowned designer? And you know, the most fabulous thing? There was a whole event dedicated to dance, and guess what? I was allowed to twirl in the courtyard for a whole afternoon! Imagine this - sunshine, gorgeous architecture, a beautiful cyna tutu… a truly magical experience.

Of course, I can't forget about the wildlife, it's just something that draws me to explore places. London, you know, has more than its fair share! I popped down to Richmond Park, it’s just an incredible green oasis right in the middle of the city. Deer gracefully sauntering about - you just can’t help but get a little nostalgic and yearn for peaceful countryside life, but London has so much more to offer!

So my dears, London, with its blend of sophistication, contemporary spirit and endless avenues to explore, really knows how to work its magic. And just wait until you see what I’ve planned for my next adventure!

Until then, keep shining, my loves, and remember, always try to twirl in pink!

Lots of love, Emma xoxo www.pink-tutu.com
