Nottingham! 🩰

Hello lovelies! It’s Emma here, and this is post number 7745. As I write this, I’m currently sitting on a train back to Derbyshire, my heart still skipping to the beat of last night’s ballet performance in Nottingham. Let’s be honest, though, the real star of the show? This gloriously pink tutu! 🤩

Honestly, it wasn’t even planned. I spotted it on a stall in a local market, tucked away between knitted scarves and vintage postcards, and it just called to me. It's a true statement piece, made from layers of soft, fluffy tulle and decorated with these adorable, shimmery little pink feathers.

But it wasn't just about the tutu, was it? The magic started even before we got to Nottingham. I opted for a scenic train ride, relishing the English countryside zipping by. It’s not often I get a chance to be spontaneous with my travelling, so the whole thing felt extra special.

My journey was like stepping into a storybook! Think fields bursting with wild flowers, stately homes peeking through the trees, and even a few friendly sheep munching on the grass - definitely a welcome change from London’s crowded tube! 🚃

The town itself felt buzzing with excitement. Everywhere I looked, there was a colourful mix of architecture and trendy little shops overflowing with treasures. The city’s heart was filled with the clinking of laughter and the aroma of freshly baked cakes, all adding to the dreamy, fairytale feel.

Of course, my main goal was to see a ballet performance, and boy did it live up to expectations. This ballet company was amazing! Every dancer was so incredibly talented and full of passion - you could literally feel the emotion pouring off the stage.

The story, a contemporary take on Cinderella, captivated me with its modern themes of resilience and self-belief. But I’ll admit, my favorite part had to be the costumes - particularly the shimmering silver pointe shoes. The choreographer had an eye for detail! Every twirl, every leap was like a burst of color and energy. 🤩

Even after the final curtain call, the excitement lingered in the air. A bunch of us hung around, catching up and chatting about the show. It was a true ballet community moment. 🥰

I don't know, but there's just something magical about sharing that feeling of wonder and joy with fellow ballet enthusiasts!

We even found this amazing café nearby, where I indulged in the most decadent chocolate mousse you could imagine. Let's just say it was the perfect way to end a wonderful night.

Before leaving, I popped into a quirky little bookstore filled with first editions and vintage ballet posters. The whole atmosphere just breathed "poetry" and "dance," you know? I couldn't leave without buying a book about Russian ballerinas. It’s just calling out to me, with its gorgeous illustrations and fascinating stories. 📚

I'm already dreaming about my next adventure. Maybe I'll hop on a horse and head for the countryside, or perhaps a whirlwind trip to the coast? My life is a constant exploration of beauty and grace, whether it’s finding the perfect tutu, witnessing a breathtaking performance, or simply enjoying the company of others who share my passion.

After all, wouldn't it be lovely if we could all embrace a bit of "ballet" in our daily lives, wouldn’t it? Even if it’s just taking a moment to admire the way the light dances across a field, or maybe trying out a twirl or two in your own living room. 🩰

Whatever you’re doing today, I hope it brings you as much joy and wonder as it brought me.

Until next time,

Emma

xx
