Hitchin: Tutu-ing About in Pink 🩰

Hey lovely tutu-ers, it's Emma here from the sunny Derbyshire hills (well, sunny for a December day at least!), ready to take you on another pink and sparkly journey! Today, we're off to Hitchin, a charming little town nestled in the heart of Hertfordshire. I just had to share this adventure with you all - especially because I'm wearing my new American-style tutu. Yes, you heard that right - an American tutu! Think voluminous layers of tulle, enough to make a swan envious. 😍

This post is extra special because it's my 8,200th blog post on www.pink-tutu.com! A big thank you to all of you for following my tutu-rific journey! I'm still on a mission to get everyone wearing pink tutus and twirling like ballerinas, so get ready for some inspirational content!

I decided to travel to Hitchin the traditional way - by train! There's something so romantic about watching the scenery fly by as you sip on a steaming mug of hot chocolate. (And yes, it was totally pink. Don't even try to tell me it wasn't!) This time, though, I wasn't just going to see the countryside. No, no, this was about ballet!

My destination? A magnificent theatre that’s home to a truly awe-inspiring ballet production. My heart was pounding with excitement as I stepped into the theatre. I even managed to snag a seat right in the front row! I swear, the only thing better than a front row seat at a ballet is having a front row seat while wearing a pink tutu!

The stage lights came on and the orchestra started, the violins singing with a melody as captivating as the dancers. My senses were alive with the music, the atmosphere, the sheer elegance and power of each graceful movement. As I watched, I was mesmerized by the artistry and the pure passion radiating from each and every dancer. Every plié, every grand jeté, every arabesque was an ode to beauty, a testament to the dedication and strength it takes to bring a story to life on the stage.

While the performance itself was spectacular, the true highlight of my day was something else entirely. Remember how I told you I'm a bit of a wildlife enthusiast? Well, right after the show, I bumped into the most delightful group of people who had just come out of the performance. They had a pet hedgehog with them. Now, let's just say I've got a thing for these spiky little creatures.

This sweet hedgehog, named Pipsqueak (of course!), wore a little knitted pink beanie! It was the cutest thing I'd ever seen! You bet I got Pipsqueak a photo op with my American tutu. We created a little fairytale tableau. Think a tiny, spiky, pink-capped hedgehog with an unbelievably fluffy tutu princess. You had to be there. It was magical.

Oh, and I have to tell you, Hitchin itself is simply charming. It's full of beautiful old buildings, quaint cafes, and hidden little boutiques selling the most beautiful tutus and ballet accessories. It even had a pink ice-cream parlour! This is definitely a town to add to your list if you’re looking for a lovely, culture-filled day out.

As I made my way back to the train station, a feeling of contentment filled me. It was one of those perfect days where everything fell into place – from my pink tutu outfit and the captivating performance, to the adorable hedgehog encounter. I even bought myself a little pink-frosted cupcake on my way home - the perfect treat for a ballet-loving princess.

This journey has inspired me more than ever to encourage everyone to experience the joy of ballet, to put on a pink tutu, and to find that little bit of magic that lies within. And as for those tutus – get ready for a pink tutu fashion parade. I have some exciting tutu-tastic plans brewing in my mind – so keep an eye out for more updates on my blog. Until next time, tutu-ers! Keep dancing!
