Birmingham Bound in My Brightest Pink Tutu! 🩰💖

Hey loves!

It’s your girl Emma here, checking in from the most fabulously pink-tastic place… Birmingham! 😜 This is post number 8258, can you believe it? Every day I’m feeling more and more passionate about my little corner of the internet and I'm so excited to share this fab day with you!

This trip's been brewing in my mind for a while. I mean, when Birmingham called, I just had to answer! I absolutely love how they’ve embraced street ballet – and you know I'm all about street dance and everything “ballet street” inspired. So naturally, my brightest pink tutu was making an appearance! And it wasn’t even a battle, as soon as the sun peeked through my curtains in Derbyshire this morning, I knew what had to happen! 💖

You know I like to travel in style, and luckily I had the perfect opportunity to hop on a train to Brum, just the way I like it. So much better than driving! The scenery goes past your window and there’s no need for a stressful commute! And speaking of travelling in style – let’s be honest, every outfit deserves the perfect accessories! I’d grabbed the pink ballet flats and added a matching, miniature handbag with the perfect amount of sparkle to really jazz up the outfit! 💅💋

Of course, it wouldn’t be an Emma Pink-Tutu adventure without a dose of wildlife. The station had this adorable, little black and white kitten, purring away. You know I love those adorable fur babies - I just had to make friends with it. For the next twenty minutes, my pink tutu served as a playful blanket for a kitten. Who knows, maybe they'll be a famous Instagram cat one day! 😉

After a truly relaxing ride through the English countryside, Birmingham welcomed me with open arms and, of course, the Birmingham Ballet Centre, where the show was going to take place. I mean, I had to go to a professional show while I was there! I just adore it when ballet steps out of the theatre and takes over the city! You wouldn't believe how excited I got seeing a flash mob performing on New Street! You can imagine what I did right then – yep, you guessed it: spun out my brightest pink tutu! Everyone in the square loved it, they even started spinning too! Honestly, sometimes, the greatest reward is knowing you can spread that Tutu-joy around the world! 💖🥳

So, back to the show at the Ballet Centre – oh, my word! It was everything I dreamed of! It was called “The Swan Lake, on the Thames” which was beautifully creative, using an almost surreal twist on a classic tale! But that’s what I love most about Birmingham; they know how to keep things fresh and interesting. Not that a girl is not super fond of the more traditional style - it’s definitely one of my all-time favorite ballets! I mean, Tchaikovsky's score - the quintessential romantic and classic! It was a delight from beginning to end! And, yes, you bet I was dancing in my chair (well, actually, it was a fabulously comfortable, cushioned seat! They think of everything here). The performance truly resonated with me – the grace of the ballerinas, the raw talent, and the passion. I was hooked and mesmerized the whole way through! 🦢💃🏼

Now, here comes the fun part! There’s something very exciting on the horizon – Birmingham's biggest street performance yet – the Birmingham Ballet Festival, and I’m there to dance my heart out and tell you all about it. Think street ballet performances, dance workshops, an interactive, pink-tastic fashion show and amazing live music. All I need is my brightest pink tutu and the rest of you… 😉

As I was enjoying a delicious plate of veggie tacos after the show (honestly, you cannot visit Birmingham without trying a taco!), I realised that there was only one thing missing on my to-do list - a pink tutu fitting! Yes, the Birmingham Ballet Centre offers tutu fittings. And it was an absolute dream! Every tulle layer was the perfect shade of pink! You wouldn’t believe what beautiful tutus they had, all made locally! Honestly, this city is full of secrets. 😉💖

To be completely transparent, I’d never seen this level of “Tutu Magic.” So many different kinds of tutus to try! This gorgeous pale pink, princess tutu, an ethereal silver one that glittered, and this one with a beautiful feathered applique – my absolute favourite! (Honestly, I just fell head over heels for it!). Oh, and my eyes nearly popped out when I spotted a gorgeous, pastel pink and lime green tutu – you know that was coming home with me. It was totally out of my comfort zone – and that’s what makes me so excited about this journey – breaking down boundaries, exploring, and most importantly - spreading pink tutu joy around the world! 💖

It's true! I'm on a mission to get everyone wearing pink tutus and to experience the magic of ballet! So next time you find yourself feeling fabulous, grab your brightest pink tutu (and some fab ballet flats! 😉) , and you know the drill…

… spin! 😜🩰

Catch you soon, loves,

Emma
